July 1st has been synonymous with protests in Hong Kong since the 1997 handover of the British Colony to Beijing. As citizens took to the streets to show solidarity over a range of issues, including universal suffrage, human rights and general opposition to mainland China, Hong Kong’s netizens armed themselves with their iPhones and shared the experience with the world.
