With the summer holidays rolling around in no time, you might be wondering how can your little ones spend the break from school in a fulfilling and educational way—without compromising fun and enjoyment, of course! Whether you are planning a trip to the French seaside or countryside, have an itinerary ready for different parts of Europe, or your sights are set on touring French-speaking countries in Africa, then the summer courses taught at the Alliance Française Hong Kong might be your key to a magnifique summer holiday.

Alliance Française’s courses for kids and teens combine its certified language curricula with engaging workshops and activities that move beyond the basics of the French language, so students can immerse themselves in an engaging way.

Young Kids: Three to six years old

You never know when a few notions of French will come in handy! Suitable for students aged three to five years old, Play and Learn French is a 10-day programme held at Alliance Française’s Jordan, Sha Tin, and Wan Chai centres, inclusive of ten lessons. The 10-class Initiation to French course is available to children aged six years old only, because it involves more grammatical learning.

Alliance Française’s pre-schooler courses are quite the journey, as it teaches students about different countries and cultures in French through games, song, and dance. Thanks to the valuable guidance of certified teachers, little ones will improve their overall communication and language skills throughout the course. Learn more here.

Kids: Seven to 10 years old

Tailored to kids aged seven to 10 years old, the kids intensive courses focus more on fine-tuning children’s French language skills thanks to interactive lessons and engaging activities. The Discovery Levels courses make for a perfect initiation into the French language and will help to build a sturdy foundation for your child’s skills to develop along their learning journey. Kids can enrol for the whole course or by module component over a five-week programme.

Beginner & Intermediate Levels courses take things to the next level. This five-week programme requires a basic understanding of French grammar and vocabulary. Finally, if your child is already fluent in French, why not enrol them in the Diploma of French Language Studies (DELF) Primary Exam preparation workshop? The two-week comprehensive programme will do its best to prepare your child so they can come out of the exam with top results. Find out more here.

Teens: 11 to 16 years old

Teenagers aged 11 to 16 years old can check out Alliance Française’s intensive courses for teens. Whether you’re a complete beginner, have basic knowledge of the French language, or are already somewhat of an expert, courses exist for learners of every level. Be exam-prepared with the DELF Junior Exam preparation or the IB French preparation workshop! Alternatively, check out the Focus on Grammar & Speaking workshop, which offers an intensive course on the fundamentals of French grammar and pronunciation. Find out more here.

Kids and teens: Summer half-day camps

Classes are one thing, but holidays are also about having a bit of fun. Inject some into your child’s language-learning journey and sign them up for Alliance Française’s two-week kids or teens summer half-day camps, held at Alliance Française’s Jordan, Sha Tin, and Wan Chai centres!

Suitable for kids aged seven to 16, some sessions are dedicated to French lessons, with entertaining extracurricular activities taking place on other days. Parents can tailor the two-week programme to their child’s interests and choose from different workshops, each teaching important life skills and encouraging children to express their creativity.

Junior chefs can cook up a storm at cooking workshops, where they will learn four quintessential French recipes. The make-your-own comic workshops are perfect for up-and-coming artists, while the Olympic Games workshops allow the athletic kids in the group to join practical games in connection with the upcoming Paris Olympic Games! For teens, there is also an option to sign up for the cinema workshops, where students will write and produce their own movies.
