While this summer hasn’t been the sunniest so far, it’s still got us in the holiday mood. From tropical tipples to reimagined classics, there’s a cocktail for everyone from sun-up to sun-down. We’ve highlighted some of our top picks for the month so you don’t make any POUR decisions.

Bedu Nomad Summer Cocktail

BEDU

Cosy Middle Eastern favourite BEDU introduces 5 new easy-going cocktails as well as 3 mocktails inspired by the diverse wanderings of the Bedouin tribe. The drinks reflect BEDU’s focus on home comforts and sustainability - making the most out of simple ingredients like lime and coffee to create drinks that are both familiar and a breath of fresh air. You can’t say nay to the Neyrita ($100), a twist on a classic margarita that almost feels like pudding with the addition of a lime and avocado curd. Kick it up a notch with the Nomad ($95), a powerful homage to the Bedouins made with white rum and a pineapple, coffee and coconut cream cordial. If you’d rather take it easy, try the Shay Grapefruit ($65), a zesty grapefruit tea that’ll help you beat the heat. BEDU, 40 Gough Street, Central | (+852) 2320 4450

VEDA

Ovolo Central’s vibrant and all-vegetarian restaurant VEDA has expanded their cocktail menu just in time for the scorching heat to kick in. The iconic cocktails we know and love in the Old School have been elevated with new base liquors like horseradish vodka and a whimsical butterfly pea flower gin. The New School section is full of refreshing cocktails made healthy with the likes of quinoa vodka and kombucha, so you can drink your way to your #fitnessgoals. Having a date night? Go for the Aphrodisiac Martini ($128), a playful meeting of quinoa vodka, homemade vanilla cane syrup, passion fruit, citrus and prosecco. Share a Celeryta ($128) with your señorita, a revitalizing mix of Ocho Tequila and fresh celery juice. Remember to check and see if you’re as red as a Bloody Parmesan ($148)- made with Bloody Shiraz Gin and topped with shredded 12-month aged Parmesan. We’re definitely sweet on these spirits. VEDA, Ovolo Central, 2 Arbuthnot Road, Central | (+852) 3755 3067

sugar-tropical-cocktail

Sugar

We love a good rooftop bar, and if you work around East Hong Kong Island, Sugar is the place to be for a laid-back post-work tipple. Get over the hump day blues on their Tropika Wednesday nights, where you can enjoy 4 specially-crafted tropical cocktails infused with edible fragrances: Jungle Breeze, Purple Sunset, Banana Storm, and Honeecacha on their alfresco deck overlooking the harbour. Sugar has also just launched a new cocktail called Under The Sea, a swirling concoction with a fitting name. Sugar, 32/F, EAST, 29 Tai Koo Shing Road, Quarry Bay | (+852) 3968 3738

Zuma-Hong-Kong-Big-Apple-Berry-3

Zuma

Everyone knows about Zuma, the iconic contemporary izakaya concept that’s near impossible to get a table at even after all these years. To accompany their new limited summer menu, Zuma’s award-winning bar team has launched 4 revamped seasonal swizzles. We’re particularly keen to try the stimulating Fujisan ($120), featuring mint-infused Bulleit bourbon, fuji apple, sherry caramel and lemon all poured over kakigori shaved ice. The Big Apple Berry ($120) is a crushed bevvy that will catch you off guard as you won’t be able to taste the vodka under the vanilla, mure, raspberries, blackberries, lime and apple flavours. While dinners are always a full house at Zuma, you can still enjoy these drinks at their bar or alfresco lounge.  Zuma, Level 5&6 Landmark Atrium, 15 Queen's Road Central, Central | (+852) 3657 6388

commissary-summer-cocktails

Commissary

Commissary has truly made American food great again, but did you know that they’ve got a handle on the best American classic cocktails too? This summer Commissary is introducing their takes on 6 crowd favourites: Aperol Kombucha Spritz, Cocomint, Mexicali Margarita, Red Hot Chili Pepper, SoCal Sour and Lychee Breeze. The Lychee Breeze features Kwai Feh Lychee Liqueur, a tribute to Emperor Ming of the Tang dynasty who supplied his favourite consort with the best picks of her favourite fruit, lychee. The Aperol Kombucha Spritz is made with a homemade bubbly kombucha from an earl grey scoby, making it a great detoxifying choice. The Red Hot Chili Pepper will have you yearning for Dani California- it’s a wake-up call in a glass of Ezra Brooks Rye, chili liqueur, lemon juice, maple syrup, something called “hellfire bitter”, and garnished with fresh chili.  Commissary, Shop 405, 4/F Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty | (+852) 2602 0707

Wahtiki

Wahtiki takes its title as Asia's True Tiki Lounge seriously, with its #BestMaiTaiInTown and authentic Tiki experiences. If you're headed to Wahtiki this summer, make sure to try their Summer Fruit Tiki Cocktails. The WAHtermelon Boogie and Pino Pepe are both delicious but deadly, served in a watermelon or pineapple fruit "cup". It's definitely made for sharing, but will do well to quench only your own thirst should you be so ambitious. They also have mango and lychee drinks coming out soon, so stay tuned! Wahtiki, 3/F, Seabird House, 22-28 Wyndham Street, Central | (+852) 2793 0308
