MTR Offers Discount Fares For Long Weekend in May to Say Sorry

By Sarah Moran 3 May 2019
Remember that terrifying MTR train collision on the Tsuen Wan Line that happened in March 18? And the two-day service suspension between Central and Admiralty that followed on March 18 and 19? Well, to apologise for all the inconvenience caused, the MTR Corporation is offering special discounted fares to the public on the upcoming long weekend.

From May 11 to 13 all adult Octopus cardholders travelling on the MTR can enjoy child fares, while concessionary Octopus holders can take advantage of $1 flat fares on every trip. The offer can also be used in conjunction with other fare promotions, such as the 25 percent discount for connecting journeys, and more. With fares that cheap, now we have no excuse not to hop on the MTR and venture further out to Tai Po, Mong Kok, or The Mills in Tsuen Wan. Click here for more information.

Born and raised in Hong Kong to expat parents, Sarah grew up as your typical third-culture kid, caught between two worlds. As someone who is nosy (or just curious) and loves the written word, there was never any other career that appealed to her as much as journalism. When she’s not busy on her mission to find the line between not enough coffee and too much coffee, you can find her exploring the city or getting stuck in a good book.
