New Set Menus at Aaharn
Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts is blessed with many standout restaurants, but Aaharn is definitely topping our list of favourites. Helmed by internationally celebrated Australian chef David Thompson, who is a recognised world authority on Thai food, the venue honours the bold flavours of the nation with tantalising dishes served for lunch and dinner. The set lunch menu, which can be enjoyed as either two or three courses, includes everything from aromatic curries to refreshing prawn and basil salads with exotic ingredients like banana blossom, which are all beautifully presented with meticulous attention to detail. Meanwhile, the set dinner menu incorporates new dishes inspired by Thompson’s continuous explorations in Thailand and his commitment to using fresh produce and regional cooking methods.
Must-orders include the Braised Duck with Ginger and Garcinia Leaves
, the Aromatic Chicken Curry with Potatoes and Shallots
, and the fragrant Silken Eggplants with Steamed Eggs and Dried Prawns

New Britannia Brunch at Statement
A good roast is hard to come by in Hong Kong, but Statement has done a fine job in bringing the time-honoured British tradition to Tai Kwun with its new weekend Britannia Brunch.
The beautifully restored colonial dining room is inviting Hongkongers to sip on free-flow Veuve Clicquot Champagne and feast on a selection of delicious artisan charcuterie and seafood, before tucking into one of four hearty, classic British mains. The options include Roast British Beef with Yorkshire Puddings
, Roasted Corn-fed Pork with Mustard and Paprika
, Beer Battered White Cod with Chips
, and Roast Cauliflower with Capers and Raisins
. Served tableside from a swanky silver trolley, which now forms the centrepiece of the weekend soirée, the beef is hand-carved directly in front of guests and accompanied by seasonal vegetables, potatoes roasted in goose fat and crisp, and fluffy Yorkshire puddings.
While the portion sizes might not match the towering mountain of food that your grandma used to serve you as a kid, the hefty seafood platter and rich desserts which follow are more than enough to make up for it. If you have room at the end, the Sticky Toffee Pudding
is a must-try, and for those who prefer a savoury ending, the Selection of British Artisan Cheeses with Grapes, Apples, and Handmade Scottish Oat Biscuits

"Champagne Secret" at Grand Hyatt
Love magic? Love Champagne? Then Harry Houdini are you in for a treat this May. For four consecutive Thursday nights – starting from May 16 – celebrated French illusionist Stefan Leyshon
will be casting a spell on guests at The Champagne Bar at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The "Champagne Secret”
journey will begin with a glass of Champagne paired with oysters to set the mood of mystery, before attendees are dazzled by an array of captivating magic tricks matched with live music, selected fine wines, and beautifully presented delicacies created exclusively for the night.
The enchanting spread includes a glass jewellery box filled with rich soup bubbles that burst in your mouth, a trio of sandwiches filled with lobster, wagyu roast beef, and Iberico pork, foie gras ice cream, and enchanted bitter chocolate with cassis and Champagne to top it all off. Not the cheapest night out, granted, but if you love magic and the allure of mystery, then this is one illusionist you will not want to miss.

New Set Lunch Menus at La Crêperie
The adorable French bistro with the most authentic crêpes and galettes in town has introduced not one, but four set lunch menus to feed hungry punters craving a taste of Brittany. Ranging from $98 to $158, the menus offer a selection of galettes, salads, drinks, and desserts, which can be enjoyed from midday until 2.30pm. As expected, the galettes come topped with all the tastiest ingredients, such as Emmental cheese, eggs, French cooked ham, and bell peppers, while salads feature smoked salmon, feta, black olives, and raw scallops, to name a few.
If you still have room after your generously sized savoury buckwheat flour galette, there are eight sweet crêpes to choose from for dessert, including chocolate, slated butter caramel, and honey and lemon, as well as a Dessert of the Day
. All set menus come with a drink, with options including Ice Lemon Tea, Hot Tea, Fresh Lemonade, Black or Milk Coffee,
and Coke etc
. But for an extra $20 you can have a cheeky cup of Brittany Cider
to wash it all down with. A brilliant option if you happen to work in Sheung Wan or Wan Chai, where the menus are currently on offer.

Five Senses Art Experience at Felix
Arts Month may be over, but The Peninsula (the official hotel partner of Art Basel Hong Kong) is keeping the creative juices flowing at its modern European restaurant, Felix, located on the 28th floor of the iconic building. After viewing the four immersive 'Art in Resonance' installations, which were recently commissioned by contemporary artists for Arts Month, guests can embark on a culinary feast for all the senses, overlooking Victoria Harbour.
Created by Chef de Cuisine Juan Gomez, the Felix Five Senses Art Experience
menu is designed to give pleasure to the five senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch, with liberal doses of playfulness scattered throughout. You can expect to watch Semi Dried Tomatoes and Almond Ravioli
vanish into an artichoke cream soup, listen to your fork crunch through Crispy King Crab Pillows
, and savour the explosion of flavours that erupt from the Pan-fried Foie Gras with Glazed Plums and Red Wine Loaf Bread.
If this all sounds just too good to miss, then you might want to get in there quick, as this experimental culinary odyssey is only available until May 30.
