It takes a pandemic to make us realise all the little things we take for granted, from simply being able to buy flour to meeting up with friends and family for a meal. Going out for dim sum has long been a local family tradition, the act of yum cha being the great embodiment of a Hong Kong family meal. If you’ve been self-isolating and craving these moreish morsels, why not order from one of these dim sum restaurants that offer delivery or takeaway? Take supporting local businesses one step further and buy some authentic handcrafted bamboo steamers to put your order in as well.

Ding Dim 1968

Ding Dim 1968 is a stylish and inexpensive dim sum restaurant with one location in Central. The master chef helming the kitchen, Sifu Chan, also known as Master Black, has been making dim sum since 1968 when he was only 14 years old. Their straightforward menu of dim sum classics is prepared with no MSG, and there are vegetarian options abound. You can order from Ding Dim 1968 via Deliveroo and Foodpanda, where they offer regular and vegetarian set meals (starting from $110) that are perfect for one person, or premium dim sum packages (starting from $1,188 for 10-plus diners) for your COVID-19 farewell party when all of this is over.
