The Women’s Festival is a space where women in Hong Kong can be vulnerable and discuss serious issues as well as learn from one another. Organised by three powerful local women—Chantal Wong, director of culture at Eaton Hong Kong; Sonia Wong, founder of local film festival Reel Women; and Vera Lui, founder of the intimate lifestyle store Sally Coco—there are events and activities that deal with mental wellness and communication, teach personal branding and financial intelligence, and encourage new perspectives on disabilities and sex.
There are also beauty and fitness classes for those just looking to unwind. The majority of the programmes will be conducted in Cantonese, although there are heaps of English-speaking events as well. While the festival is dedicated to women and femmes, men are also welcome, as there are activities that deal with familial and romantic relationships that anyone can benefit from.
Events and activities cost anywhere between $100–$400, with special community pricing for full-time local Hong Kong students, “new” middle-age citizens (aged 60 or above), and people with different abilities. Check out the full programme of the Women’s Festival here.
