Tom Lee Music Foundation

While its retail shops may be better known as the stomping ground of many a pre-teen and their parents, in search of sheet music, instruments, and more, the Tom Lee Music Foundation also offers up to 28 classes for adults too. These range from the conventional guitar and piano to the more unusual ukulele, harp, and electone (electric organ). For those looking to up their karaoke game, then pop singing classes are also held across its nine locations. Adult classes are available for those aged 18 and up, while both private and group sessions are available, with lesson times and prices varying, depending on your instrument of choice. Parsons Music Academy

With 20 academies located across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, the Parsons Music Academy schools offer a more conventional approach to music lessons. Students can take comfort in the fact that they are being taught by the best in their field, with the guarantee that every tutor possesses a Grade 8 or above. In certain music centres, there is also the option to rent a room for practice – which will be music to your neighbours’ ears if you were originally planning on getting to grips with that newly-purchased electric guitar late into the night. Lesson prices and schedules vary, depending on your instrument of choice and the availability of tutors. Parsons Music Academy, locations vary, (+852) 2333 1863

Parkland Music Institute

Parkland Music Institute offers everything from conventional classical training to chart-topping pop and rock lessons, plus acapella training for those looking to recreate a scene from Glee. Lessons are available in Cantonese, while lessons in English, Mandarin, and Japanese can be arranged on request. Parkland also offers students the option to rent instruments, as well as purchase them from its retail stores, or send them in for repairs and refurbishments.
