Hong Kong is currently experiencing its third wave of COVID-19 infections, with cases rising in triple digits daily. Now more than ever, the immediate benefits of deep-cleaning are at the forefront of our minds. Though the term has been thrown around in the news—usually relating to nightclubs, gyms, restaurants, or cruise ships that underwent thorough disinfection and deep-cleaning—what is the difference between deep-cleaning and just regular cleaning?
First and foremost, deep-cleaning is not a scientific term nor concept; instead, it can have various meanings for different people and businesses. Despite the broad terminology, deep-cleaning covers areas which are not cleaned as frequently, such as the inside and outside of all windows, window frames and patio doors, or under the sink. In essence, it reaches and banishes the deep grime and dirt in your home, in all sorts of places you wouldn’t normally think to clean.
Deep-cleaning services tend to be more intense and advanced. Don’t be alarmed to see cleaners in full gear of PPE (personal protective equipment) masks and hazmat suits. Unlike general cleaning, deep-cleaning also takes longer to complete, often taking a couple of days due to the different chemical used.
