They say that laughter is the best medicine, and if that's the case, our city's comedy clubs are the perfect remedy. With World Laughter Day springing up on May 7, we bring you the very best comedy nights in the 852. Prepare to have your sides split!

 Monday

mondayscomedy Who says Mondays have to be blue? Laugh yourself senseless every Monday night, as seasoned comics and first-timers take to the stage at Bar 109. With two and a half years of open mic comedy under its belt, this Wan Chai hangout has definitely earned its place on the Hong Kong comedy circuit. If you fancy test-driving your material, get down to Bar 109 at 8pm to secure your slot, and claim your complimentary beer (what better way to settle those last minute nerves?). Tuesday

comedy Chuckle your way through Tuesday evenings at TakeOut Comedy - the first full-time comedy club in Asia. Since opening it's doors in 2007, TakeOut Comedy has been a hub of hilarity, with well-known faces and amateur comics filling the venue with roaring laughter. Every Tuesday, the club hands the microphone over to Hong Kong's budding comics. For just $50, you can enjoy an hour of stand-up, and take to the stage yourself if you so fancy. Wednesday

HK Brew House2 Fancy a mid-week giggle? Hong Kong Brew House in Lan Kwai Fong has a weekly open mic slot for amateur comics in association with ComedyHK. Head downstairs to laugh your socks off for two hours every Wednesday evening. The Brew House boasts one of the most extensive beer collections in Hong Kong, which makes it the perfect venue for a laid-back laugh. If you fancy whipping out your funniest knock-knock jokes, and enjoy a drink on the house, click on the link below to reserve your spot. Thursday 

paul-ogata It's time to hand back the mic and let the professionals do their thing. One Thursday evening a month, Champs Bar in Causeway Bay becomes a comedy hub. Quick-witted TakeOut Comedy legend, Paul Ogata (pictured), and author of Hot Chocolate For The Mind, Dwayne Perkins are among the famous faces who have taken to the stage. With a gastro-pub menu to indulge in, and drinks ready for the taking, this is the perfect place to laugh the night away. The Weekend

TakeOut Comedy hosts shows every Friday and Saturday evening that will have you rolling on the floor and begging for mercy. Familiar faces including America's Got Talent runner-up, Tom Cotter, and Comedy Central regular, Butch Bradley, are set to perform in the coming months, alongside up and coming names, so be sure to check out the schedule.
