Just because travel restrictions have now eased and masks are off, it does not mean you should stop being conscious of your health and environment. A health plan is always a good way to keep your body’s status in check every few years or so. In fact, it is recommended for all adults over the age of 18 to conduct a body check once every two to five years, while those aged 45 and above should complete a health check every year.

But which health plans are suitable for you, and which ones are the most inclusive? We spoke with the experts at Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (HKBH) about their plans, advice for patients, and the best way to go about choosing the health plan for you.

Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Ambulatory Medical Centre

Hong Kong Baptist Hospital has just opened a new Ambulatory Medical Centre in the heart of the Kowloon East CBD. Within a 10,000-square-foot space, the comprehensive and spacious centre is equipped with the best medical facilities to date, including diagnostic endoscopy, radiology, and medical imaging, from mammography to x-rays.

The Ambulatory Medical Centre is also manned by professionally trained nurses and physicians with plenty of experience in the medical field, so you can rest easy knowing you are in safe hands while undergoing various assessments and tests.

Why should you consider a health plan?

City dwellers are exposed to living habits that can be more damaging to your system than you think. Experts at HKBH mention that, especially for the busy worker, the combination of a stressful life, a heavy workload, and unhealthy lifestyle choices—which are not always voluntarily made—can deteriorate the functionality of internal organs.

Vital organs that are most at risk are the heart, kidneys, stomach, and liver. Targeting these major problem areas, HKBH has curated four tailor-made health screening plans that lower the risk of sudden death from chronic illnesses by spotting ailments ahead of time. Continue below to read about the benefits of each bespoke health plan!

1

Cardiac

This plan assesses the risks of developing and determines the presence of cardiac-related diseases in patients. Major indexes that will be screened include blood count and glucose, renal and liver function, together with an electrocardiogram and blood vessel imaging.

Suitable for: Patients who have a generational history of heart diseases, high levels of bad cholesterol, and chronic illnesses. Also for those who drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes regularly, and with an irregular and/or stressful routine.

Localiiz-only offer: $5,913

2

Gastro-intestinal

The screenings and tests in this plan focus on your stomach and liver, on top of other basic assessments. You will undergo a comprehensive liver function test, diabetes assessment, ultrasound for your upper abdomen, and risk assessment for colorectal cancer.

Suitable for: Patients who have a generational history of liver and stomach diseases, who drink alcohol regularly, those with a heavy and/or spicy diet, regular stomach problems or discomfort, and those with an irregular and/or stressful routine.

Pre-stroke risk

A stroke is a highly concerning health issue, but this plan gives you peace of mind by accessing your risk of having a stroke. Remember—early detection and treatment can make a world’s difference in the aftermath of a stroke. Major areas for screening include blood count, glucose, and renal and liver function. Other procedures may include an electrocardiogram, an ultrasound of the carotid artery, an MRI of the brain, and even brain vessel imaging if your doctor finds the necessity for one.

Suitable for: Patients who smoke and drink regularly, and who have chronic illnesses.

Localiiz-only offer: $4,851

4

Renal

If you are concerned about your renal health, this plan is for you. It offers in-depth assessments of your kidney functions. On this plan, you will undergo a series of tests and screenings that assess the risk of developing kidney disease, including a diabetes assessment, renal function test, gout screening, kidney stones, an ultrasound of your kidneys, kidneys and urinary bladder assessment, and a routine urinalysis.

Suitable for: Patients who suffer from or with a generational history of kidney diseases, edema, and other urinary conditions.

Localiiz-only offer: $1,998

We hope this guide will give you some insight into how to choose a suitable health plan so you can stay in tip-top shape for years to come.
