Studio Ghibli’s 3D World of Animation is coming to Hong Kong this summer

Lovers of Studio Ghibli rejoice! The famed Japanese animation film studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki is bringing nine of their beloved films to life right here in Hong Kong from 3 August to 3 November as part of The World of Studio Ghibli’s Animation interactive world tour. If you’ve ever wanted to visit the bathhouse from Spirited Away, now’s your chance!

Fans can immerse themselves in the fantastical worlds created by Studio Ghibli through 30 life size 3D box art recreations of classic scenes. In addition, the Studio Ghibli team flew in from Japan to supervise the creation of the installations, supported by video footage and special sound and lighting effects to create the most engaging experience for fans.

The exhibition is split into eight sections, each dedicated to one featured film, including Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Pom Poko, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Not only are visitors able to pick up Studio Ghibli merch to bring home the movie magic, but there are also be Hong Kong-exclusive Ghibli items for the diehard fans.

The exhibition is held at Portal 6311 in Kowloon Bay, and is open from 11 am to 10 pm every day of the week. Tickets for all ages are available online via the official event website as well as Cityline and Trip.com, with prices ranging from $148 to $228. Trip.com is also offering additional discounts, and families can get discounted ticket packages as well. There are also tickets available at the door, but we recommend making an advance purchase to guarantee yourself sufficient time with all the gorgeous exhibits.
