What is Dragon Boat Festival without glutinous rice dumplings? Munching on zongzi wrapped in bamboo leaves during the annual celebration is one of the best ways to spend time with friends and family. If you’re not making your own zongzi from scratch, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the festive treat with store-bought options—here’s our guide on where to get the best rice dumplings for Dragon Boat Festival 2023.

Ming Court at Cordis is offering two types of deluxe dumplings, one of which is the classic glutinous rice dumpling with whole abalone, conpoy, roasted duck meat, Jinhua ham, salted egg yolk, and shiitake mushroom. It is also introducing the black glutinous rice dumpling with aged dried tangerine peel, red bean paste, and lotus seed set this year, featuring the zongzi with a bottle of traditional pu’er tea. Available in sets, these sweet and nutritious treats can be purchased online here from now until 21 June.

The Peninsula

Spring Moon at The Peninsula is offering up various rice dumpling selections, such as the well-loved deluxe glutinous rice dumpling marinated in rosé wine. For 2023, the restaurant is also presenting the “Golden Twins” glutinous rice dumplings, pairing a lotus seed paste dumpling with a sweet red date paste and lychee dumpling.

If you’re looking for a gift set to share the love, the supreme glutinous rice dumpling gift set combines Spring Moon’s premium glutinous rice dumpling with a signature XO chilli sauce. Designed in an Art Deco style, the packaging is made from 100-percent recycled materials, making it a wonderfully festive yet aesthetically beautiful gift. Also making its debut is the Far Eastern Taipei roasted duck with bamboo shoots rice dumpling, which includes the signature roasted duck made famous by Shang Palace at the Far Eastern Taipei Shangri-La.

Summer Palace at Island Shangri-La is offering a sticky rice dumpling with abalone, conpoy, and organic pork belly and a sticky rice dumpling with 60-year dried tangerine peel and red beans, available individually or as a set.
