Whatever the season, if the sun’s out, we start planning for our favourite sunny-weather activity: picnics! Hong Kong has its fair share of greenery and there is no better way to enjoy them than by chowing down on quality bites and booze on a picnic blanket. Planning a picnic may seem like a hassle, but we have your back. In no particular order, here are some places offering ready-made picnic hampers that you can either pick up in person or have delivered to you. From cheeses and wine to blankets and tableware, picnicking has never been easier!

Take your day out to new heights with Rajasthan Rifles! Plan ahead for your picnic atop the Peak and pick up one of the delicious Picnics on the Peak baskets from Black Sheep Restaurants’ Anglo-Indian restaurant, which evokes memories of the military mess halls of old.

Each hamper comes packed to the brim with artisanal cheddar cheese, fruits, nuts, the Rajasthan Rifles club sandwich with chicken tikka or paneer bhurji masala, potato and green pea samosa, and nimbu soda (an Indian-style lime soda) or masala chai.

Brick Lane’s epic picnic baskets have you covered if you’re new to dining under the stars! Filled with everything you will possibly need, the hampers come with bites and beverages, a cosy blanket, crockery, and cutlery to finish. There are four different kinds of baskets for you to choose from, including the Baron hamper, the Earl hamper, the Duke hamper, and the vegetarian hamper.  

If you’re worried that your appetite will get the better of you, you can always add extra bites to your basket. Remember to place your order here at least three days in advance, so that you can just stroll into one of their locations across town and pick up your picnic!

Deaf Cafeteria

If you’re spending a day out in the lush greenery of Sai Kung, don’t forget to stop by Deaf Cafeteria for a picnic break. Located inside the Lion’s Nature Education Centre, the cafeteria was established by local charity Hong Kong Society for the Deaf to offer job opportunities for the hearing-impaired. The cafeteria offers two picnic sets for visitors to choose from that come with mains, snacks, a rattan picnic box, cutlery, and a picnic mat.

If you want to enjoy the views of Victoria Harbour while you picnic, why not head over to the Wan Chai harbourfront? The adjoining restaurant, Pier 1929, offers a picnic basket for two complete with a picturesque rattan picnic basket, a picnic mat, glasses, plates, and cutlery, so you really only need to bring your appetite! For food, the basket comes with a salmon Caesar salad, a ham and cheese platter, two choices of mains and snacks, and three choices of dessert. Remember to order at least a day in advance and you can pick up your basket from Pier 1929 as you stroll along the harbour looking for the perfect picnic spot.
