Chef Dominique Ansel is bringing the Cronut to Hong Kong!

By Jen Paolini 18 May 2020

We probably speak for all pastry fans when we say that we all felt a tiny ripple of disappointment when chef Dominique Ansel made his debut in Hong Kong earlier this year without his acclaimed Cronut® in tow. But no longer! We’ve just been informed that the Cronut®, the most iconic of Chef Dominique’s many sweet creations, will be making its first-ever debut in Hong Kong this very Friday! Who’s ready for a (crunchy) taste?

This two-week event marks the first time that the Cronut® will be available in Hong Kong, as Chef Dominique and his teams worldwide commemorate the celebrated pastry’s seventh birthday this month. For those who have been living under a rock, the Cronut® pastry rocked the culinary world almost a decade ago when it was first introduced, and the unique croissant-doughnut hybrid sparked a viral trend that made it the most talked-about dessert item in history, including being named as one of the best inventions of 2013 by TIME magazine.

To make the occasion even more special, the Hong Kong Cronut® will have its own exclusive flavour that has never been served before in any of Chef Dominique’s shops: Lychee & Jasmine Cronut ($48), filled with homemade lychee jam and fragrant jasmine ganache. As is tradition, the monthly flavour of the Cronut® never repeats, so guests will have the opportunity to try this unique flavour created exclusively just for Hong Kong.

This limited-edition Cronut® will be available daily from 22 May to 7 June, exclusively at Dang Wen Li by Dominique Ansel, while supplies last. The pastries are baked fresh each morning and available starting when the shop opens daily until sold out. Guests can purchase up to six Cronut® pastries per person, for takeaway or dine-in.

Dang Wen Li by Dominique Ansel, Shop OT G63A, G/F, Ocean Terminal, Harbour City, 3–27 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
