It’s no secret that we love brunch, though some of our weekends are spent hankering for something that we can really sink our teeth into—like a Sunday roast.

A mouth-watering assemblage, the Sunday roast traditionally stars a roast of choice, drenched in a generous serving of gravy and surrounded by a bed of roasted vegetables, with a mandatory serving of Yorkshire pudding to top it all off.

Whether you are a homesick Brit or simply looking to tuck into a meal that gives off the celebratory warmth of a holiday feast, here are the best spots in Hong Kong for a good ole Sunday roast.

The Globe

Transplanting the warm and friendly buzz of your salt-of-the-earth pub to the slopes of Soho, The Globe is high up on our list of spots in Hong Kong for a proper nosh. Lovingly prepped by Chef Martin and available every Sunday from 12 pm, take your pick of a sumptuous Ashdale beef striploin, pork belly, turkey breast, or even a totally vegan pumpkin and pecan roast that will satisfy any plant-based cravings.

Slathered in piping hot gravy beside a serving of roasted vegetables and a fresh Yorkshire pudding, the roast comes with a starter as part of a two-course meal ($310) or even a three-course meal ($340) with a dessert for finishers. Wash it all down with a refreshing draft from one of The Globe’s 18 rotating taps or a bottle of crisp cider.

King’s Belly

King’s Belly is a place you can always count on for the cosiest front-row seats to experience the sleepy charm of Tai Po, armed with a drink in hand and the footie on.

Served all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and even public holidays, their house roast features succulent cuts of 10-ounce US prime rib ($168) glazed under a smattering of homemade rotisserie gravy and accompanied by fluffy Yorkshire pudding, roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and Irish colcannon mash.

Plated up as part of a set, you can upgrade from complimentary tea or coffee to unlimited iced tea ($10), a half-pint of lager or sparkling drinks ($28), or a glass of wine ($30).

Mr Wolf

Presented as an all-you-can-eat spread, the vibrant carving station at Mr Wolf delivers roasted beef ribs, crackling pork loin, and herb-roasted chicken, with gravy on the side for you to douse your platter to your heart’s content. Keeping it authentic, there is also plenty of duck fat potatoes, buttered carrots, peas and smoked bacon, truffled cauliflower cheese, and of course, yorkies. Between filling up on hearty main dishes, we would recommend the pigs in a blanket, salade maison with walnuts, and Fourme d’Ambert cheese with vinaigrette to nibble on.

All of the above can be enjoyed limitlessly for just $320 per person as Sunday lunch (12 pm to 4 pm) or dinner (from 6 pm onwards). An additional free-flow drinks package of soft drinks, beers, and wine can be had for an extra $250. Needless to say, such a banquet would not be complete without dessert, which also comes as part of the buffet in the form of a homely apple crumble and custard and zesty berry pavlova.

Carving

Have your roast—and bring it home, too! Aside from enjoying roasted rib-eye under the blue-tinted glow of a modest and calming space in the Giada Central lobby, the lunch menu at Carving can be readily packed for takeaway for a comfort meal that can be savoured at your dining table. Each order of roast beef prime rib-eye comes splashed in decadent gravy, with two sides of your choosing and mashed potatoes.

With up to eight varieties of complements and seasonal extras, you can freely mix and match between an authentic plate of trimmings like Yorkshire pudding and creamed spinach, or an updated interpretation that melds in other non-British cuisines, such as beef mac and cheese or devil fries. Carving serves this glorious selection daily, so you won’t have to wait for Sunday, either.

Shoreditch

An elevated reinterpretation of quintessential British pub fare, Shoreditch keeps things simple yet still offers something other than the typical choice of beef. Its selected roasts are roasted lamb shank with rosemary gravy ($248) or a half portion of roasted chicken ($198). Both are served alongside a medley of fingerling potatoes, bobby beans, carrots, and Yorkshire pudding for an extra rich mouthful.

For an extra dash of warmth from within, complimentary soup and salad are provided with all of the roasts. Although the flavours keep to the classic palate of a Sunday roast, this delectable roster can be enjoyed any day of the week.

Kinship

Evoking home-cooked flavours and vibes through next-level cooking, Kinship features a hearty Sunday roast, which appears as a main dish option in its weekend brunch package ($398). Diverging from the traditional British experience, Kinship pairs a classic roast with hip brunch dishes for a modern edge.

Dig into the starters of barbecue hash, egg salad, duck and grains, and roasted beets. While the cut of roast changes by the week, it is always served with trimmings of duck fat potatoes, roasted vegetables, gravy, and Yorkshire pudding. End your Sunday lunch on a sweet note by picking between the cheesecake or Mr Whippy granola compote, followed by a stream of tipples from the free-flow drinks ($198) upgrade.
