Monthly Pupdates: Animals in need of adoption in Hong Kong

By Kopal Manglik 2 June 2022

With the recent increase of people emigrating out of Hong Kong, there has also been a rise in cases of pets being left behind, or shelters being asked to take the animals back. It is incredibly hard for rescues to navigate these complicated times.

If you are looking to move out of Hong Kong, here are a couple of resources that might help: Pet relocation companies to help you with the transition, other essentials you need to know, and the Flight Volunteer for Pets Facebook group. Additionally, if you believe you might have plans to relocate out of Hong Kong, consider fostering or volunteering instead.

Chickie and Winkie

Age: 1.5 years old and 9 months old

Gender: Female

Winkie is the more adventurous and playful out of the two, whereas Chickie, the mum, is a bit shyer, so they balance each out very well. Chickie and Winkie will keep each other entertained and will also love to play with you.

🐾

Aden

Age: 4 months old

Gender: Male

Breed: Rottweiler cross

Description: Aden is a Rottweiler cross and is relatively large compared to other puppies his age. He is extremely playful and will knock over water bowls for fun and bark at his empty food bowl to ask for a refill. Aden is an affectionate boy who always tries his best to interact with visitors. When he is inside his room at the SPCA, he will give you his paw and lick the glass window to make you laugh!

Best suited for: A family that has a large space at home.

Notes: To adopt Aden from SPCA, please contact the SPCA Kowloon Centre at (+852) 2713 9104 and mention his number (PN: 530711) while speaking with their representatives.

🐾

Dave

Age: 1 year old

Gender: Male

Breed: Mixed breed

Description: When Dave is inside his room, he will lean against the window to ask you for a back scratch. He can be so demanding (in a cute way) that he will let out a soft bark to ask you why you’ve stopped scratching him! When Dave is outside, he is active and loves interacting with people. As an extrovert, he is super popular amongst his doggie friends.

Best suited for: Anyone!

Notes: To adopt Dave from SPCA, please contact the SPCA Wan Chai at (+852) 2232 5529 and mention his number (PN: 504852) while speaking with their representatives.

🐾

Arnie

Age: 5 to 6 years old

Gender: Male

Breed: Mixed breed

Description: Arnie is a little ball of fun! He has the body of a Corgi and the personality of a Golden Retriever. He is generally happy-go-lucky and well-behaved. In the car, he can jump in and out by himself and has learnt to still for the whole journey. He loves food and is easy to train, plus his small size makes him perfect for brunch dates in the city.

Best suited for: Anyone!

Notes: Please email to adopt from SKSFF.

🐾

Bostjan

Age: 1 year old

Gender: Male

Breed: Husky mix

Description: A number of huskies were rescued from a Tsuen Wan rooftop, where they were being illegally bred. Bostjan is one of those lucky survivors who has been taken in by LAP. His fosters describe him as a fun-loving young dog with puppy energy. Despite having had a hard start in life, he is adorable and trusting. He would make a wonderful companion!

Best suited for: Anyone!

Notes: To adopt from LAP, please fill in the dog adoption form.

🐾

Beige

Age: 3 years old

Gender: Female

Breed: Husky

Description: Beige is another Husky rescue from Tsuen Wan. As a female, she was probably used for breeding as soon as she was able to have babies. Fortunately, she has now been rescued by LAP. Given the Hong Kong heat and humidity, it is not the ideal condition for Huskies, who thrive in cold environments, so careful evaluation of potential homes will be required to ensure she gets the best life possible.

Best suited for: A home that understands the needs of a Husky.

Notes: To adopt from LAP, please fill in the dog adoption form.

🐾

Yoda

Age: 7 years old

Gender: Male

Breed: Mixed breed

Description: Yoda was found abandoned at the entrance of SAA with two other newborn puppies, Yoyo and Yam. Only Yoda is still living in SAA, and his siblings have already found their forever homes. He is playful and cuddly, although he takes a while to warm up to new people. However, he is very enthusiastic once he gets to know you.

Best suited for: Anyone!

Notes: To adopt from SAA, please read the terms and conditions.

🐾

Yoggie

Age: 6 years old

Gender: Male

Breed: Mixed breed

Description: Yoggie was a newborn puppy when he was found on the streets and sent to SAA by a passerby. He is a fun-loving dog that enjoys the company of both humans and dogs. A while ago, Yoggie was found to be not eating much. After professional consultation, he was discovered to have cavities and the vet safely removed the decayed tooth. He has recovered well and has since returned to being his cheerful and playful self.

Best suited for: Anyone!

Notes: To adopt from SAA, please read the terms and conditions.

🐾

Daughter B

Age: 6 years old

Gender: Female

Breed: Mixed breed

Description: Daughter B has lived quite a life, from being born in a warehouse to losing her companions in a car crash, to her caretaker moving away and eventually being taken in by HKSCDA. Now she is finally living in a foster home, enjoying the life she deserves; one filled with lots of love, affection, and treats! Will you take this girl to her forever home?

Best suited for: Anyone!

Notes: Fill out the dog adoption form at Hong Kong Saving Cats & Dogs.

🐾

Trent

Age: 3 months old

Gender: Male

Breed: Mixed breed

Description: This little munchkin is an absolute sweetheart and a chill dude. When not lazing around, Trent is a food lover, always on the hunt for his next treat. This makes him super easy to train and he is already well-versed in using the pee pad. His sister and other siblings have already been adopted, so now it’s just this cutie pie waiting for a home.

Best suited for: Anyone!

Notes: To adopt from Hong Kong Dog Rescue, please fill out their adoption form.
