Donate Your Books for Love and Support a Worthy Cause

By Sophie Pettit 8 February 2018
They say that one man's junk is another man's treasure – and that is certainly true of books. If you're looking to free up some much-needed apartment space, then you'll be pleased to know that the annual Books for Love charity campaign has returned to the city, calling upon Hongkongers to donate their books for a very worthy cause.

From now until March 31, bookworms can drop their donations at one of the 46 designated collection points dotted around the city, where they will be sorted and later sold for $10 each at a four-day book sale held in Taikoo Place from April 25 to 28. Organised by Swire Properties, the campaign aims to help create more educational opportunities for children in need, with all proceeds from the book sale going to The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) and Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS). Books for Love has received an overwhelming response since launching in 2009, with last year's sale raising a record-breaking $700,000 to support the chosen charities, with the help of 2,700 volunteers. Organisers hope that this year's event will draw even more book lovers through its doors, so get ready to raid your bookshelves people, because it's time to donate for love.
