Where to find 24-hour veterinary clinics in Hong Kong for pet emergencies

By Stephanie Lown 5 November 2019

As a pet owner, there is nothing worse than when your beloved pet falls ill or—touch wood—gets into an accident. According to the Hong Kong Companion Animal Academy, responsible owners should have the numbers of (at least!) two to three 24-hour emergency veterinary clinics saved in their contacts, so we’ve done the research for you and rounded up a list of 24-hour clinics below. Be sure to jot down the contact details of your closest 24-hour vets, just in case.

But how do you recognise the signs of an emergency, especially when pets can’t communicate the way humans do? There’s a course for that. Hong Kong Companion Animal Academy offers pet first-aid courses in both Cantonese and English, and Whiskers N Paws are known to host the occasional first aid workshop at their store.

House calls

Due to the nature of home visiting services, house calls cannot guarantee instant emergency coverage every time. In the case of a real emergency, please try to contact your closest 24-hour emergency clinic.

Creature Comforts

Creature Comforts are on hand between 8am–6pm (weekdays only) for house calls. Backed by East Island Animal Hospital and the Animal Emergency Centre, they can offer to arrange animal ambulance service.

Service hours: 8am–6pm (Monday–Friday)
Tel: (+852) 9773 0372

Homevet

Homevet aims to provide home examination and treatment within the same day where possible, but cannot always guarantee instant emergency service (as mentioned above). They can also act as transportation for sick animals to their affiliated hospitals (VSH and Animal Medical Centre) where appropriate.

Service hours: 9am–6pm (Monday–Saturday, depending on location)
Tel: (+852) 9860 5522

Pulsevet

Pulsevet is a mobile vet service that provides veterinary house calls for your pet in the comfort of your own home. They will travel throughout Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and New Territories area, in addition to Ma Wan. Do note that you may need to call and schedule an appointment in advance, so the emergency care provided may not be immediate.

Service hours: 10am–8pm (Monday–Sunday)
Tel: (+852) 9238 8202

Pet ambulance

The first pet ambulance service was launched in Hong Kong earlier this year by Pet Club. Although membership to Pet Club is required to utilise this service, they will not turn away emergency cases. Membership involves a one-off joining fee of $180, with a monthly payment of $39, which can be redeemed in e-coupons from their affiliated 50 pet shops across Hong Kong.

Service hours: 8pm–6am
Tel: (+852) 2480-9234
