The best Christmas displays around Hong Kong this year

It’s that magical time of the year again when shopping malls try to outdo each other with their grandest displays of festive cheer, leaving us spoilt for choice when it comes to entertaining our little ones (and ourselves—let’s be honest). So to help you whittle it down, we’ve rounded up some of the most spectacular Christmas displays around town that are definitely worth checking out this season.

The Spirit of Christmas at Lee Tung Avenue

Lee Tung Avenue has kicked off the Wings of Christmas project with First Initiative Foundation to spread a message of perfect harmony this Christmas! Feathered Ascent, created by award-winning multimedia and lighting installation artist Nicholas Cheung, will take flight at this Wan Chai shopping arcade over the season. Marrying science with creativity, the expansive artwork features a flock of fifty mobile sculptures of doves to shine and dazzle shoppers and passers-by.

Christmas Carnival at Telford Plaza

The entirety of Telford Plaza will transform into a massive carnival this Christmas! With multiple interactive stations set up across the mall, expect to delight in a 6-metre-tall Christmas tree, a Christmas carousel, as well as a Christmas train for children and adults alike to dwell in festive cheer. There’s also an additional Christmas zone that explores the future of science and technology, so you can experience both old and new.

Christmas Circus at Tai Kwun

Tai Kwun Circus Plays is back this year with more awe-inspiring contemporary circus performances while the heritage destination celebrates a traditional Christmas with warmth and cheer. Under luminous decorations and a sparkling tree, make time to witness various live performances with families and friends!

Additionally, visitors can also take in Let’s Do Lunch, a new heritage exhibition that examines the Central business district’s one-of-a-kind lunch culture and its unique social connections. And don’t miss the second edition of Booked: Hong Kong Art Book Fair at Tai Kwun Contemporary in January!

Line Friends Christmas at Citygate Outlets

Believe it or not, this winter holiday, it’s (metaphorically) snowing on Lantau Island! Citygate Outlets is using its brand-new extension to bring Brown and his friends on a tour of Hong Kong’s largest island district.

Find your favourite Line Friends characters—including two three-metre-tall Brown and Cony-themed snowmen—introducing you to a number of famous Lantau landmarks on their winter holiday excursion. You can even create your own animated festive card or join a handicraft workshop to lap up the Christmas spirit!

Santa Paws Village at Landmark

At Santa Paws Village, take a peek at the host of colourful Christmas characters as they go about their lives in a traditionally-inspired festive village! Aside from making up a fantastic display, the characters serve as inspiration behind many of the Christmas shopping offers and dining experiences to be savoured across Landmark this season.

There will be tantalisingly sweet and savoury treats and goods, with all purchases made going towards Hong Kong’s Make A Wish Foundation. We heard Cookie DPT made a special festive cookie just for the occasion, too!

Catch Christmas Lights at Lee Gardens

Lee Gardens will be aglow with beautiful Christmas decorations this year! The major spotlight is on the Atrium at Hysan Place, where their Golden Mirrored Stage will let you indulge in shimmering mirror reflections. Be sure to bring your love to Lee Garden One, where Hysan Avenue has been transformed into a Starlight Walkway, where romantic lights hang above your heads to evoke a wonderful winter garden. Get your cameras ready for the obligatory Instagram post and fall in love with the Christmas season all over again!

Spend Christmas Together with Pacific Place

This year, Pacific Place presents Sincerely Yours, an installation experience where Santa’s Printing House creates enchanting Christmas card moments for visitors to express how much others mean to you. Everywhere you look, you’ll see heart-warming scenes of togetherness, from encounters with adorable characters and children making decorations with their parents to families squeezing together for a picture with Santa.

LED Light Show at China Hong Kong City

Christmas sure is a magical time and China Hong Kong City has been decked in glorious Christmas lights to bring a bit of sparkle into our lives! Displayed on a giant digital facade that consists of 52,000 technicoloured LED lights on an area of over 2,600 square meters, this year’s Christmas light display depicts animated art across many styles. You can embark on a magical visual journey in outer space through a psychedelic kaleidoscope, explore a whimsical world of tantalising blobs, as well as a fantastic room of illusion!

A Stellar Christmas at Star Street

Christmas is the season to focus on hospitality and generosity, and Star Street was sure to pick up on it. Besides their generous Christmas shopping rewards, the area is decked out with Christmas decorations, with larger-than-life light fixtures and giant ornaments to grace your Instagram feeds. Star Street is also one of the most pet-friendly spots, so you can share the Christmas joy with all your furry friends!

Fiona Barratt Christmas Trees at the Upper House

In what has now become an annual tradition, the Upper House is once again collaborating with Fiona Barratt Interiors for their annual Christmas tree. A magical festive season begins at the Upper House with the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree and an open bar of festive treats from Café Gray Deluxe for all to enjoy. Those seeking a hideaway close to the action can embrace in the intimate spaces and panoramic harbour views of the House with an indulgent room package as well as shopping and dining experiences.

Dreamy Galaxy at LCX Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s first official LCX x Greenie & Elfie: Have a Merry Fairy Christmas! will take place at Harbour City this year and the kids are in for a treat! To celebrate this very special occasion, fairy character Greenie is using macarons—her favourite dessert—to transform LCX into a colourful dreamy galaxy. Follow the displays to three Instagrammable spots of gorgeous pastel dreaminess, which include Dreamy Galaxy, Wonder Snowfield, and Fairy Planet. Let the Christmas magic take over for a fun-filled season!
