By Sophie Pettit 26 August 2015
No room to fit a piano in your apartment?  Never mind, just pop down to PMQ and get your musical fix on one of their 16 colourful tinkers, which have landed in our city as part of the new “Play Me, I’m Yours” international music project. Founded by British artist Luke Jerram back in 2008, the project aims to connect communities through music and art by placing decorated pianos in cities around the world for the public to enjoy, and Hong Kong is the 48th city to host it. man on piano Hong Kongers of all ages have been tinkering away on the vibrant instruments, which set up camp in PMQ's Courtyard on Monday. Arranged in a circular formation, the pianos showcase the talents of local artists who were invited to decorate them in ways that show the distinctive elements of our city. The Hong Kong version certainly lives up to its name, "Our Hong Kong, Our Talents", with food stalls, concrete jungles, and Chinese opera all featuring on the pianos in bold, abstract, and elegant styles. streetpiano Everyone is invited to play to their hearts' content, bringing a little music, art, and elegance to our city as they interact over a tune or two. And the fun doesn't stop there because the pianos will continue to pop up in various public areas around the city until December. So whether you're the next Beethoven, or can just about bash out Chopsticks (oh, please don't), then come along and have a go. Share your photos and hashtag #playmeimyours and visit the PMQ website for more information.
