With a name like Terrible Baby, you might assume that you're in for something rather out of the ordinary when you visit this latest bar to hit Jordan – and you'd be right. We check out the quirky venue that's landed in the newly rebranded Eaton HK.
Named after Jean Cocteau's novel Les Enfants Terribles
, Terrible Baby brings a whole new level of kitch to the bustling neighbourhood of Jordan. Located on the fourth floor of the progressive Eaton HK hotel, the bar oozes a Sci-Fi vibe, with silver alien figurines, pink plasma balls, and illuminated bubble lifts giving it a playful feel, which is reflected in its cocktails.
Created by bartender Edgar Santillan, who earned his stripes at notable establishments like the Ivy Hotel in California, Mosquito Blue in Playa del Carmen, and Casa Negra Bar in London, the drinks menu offers some pretty sensational sips at pleasantly affordable prices, starting from just $85.
Must-try cocktails include the tongue-in-cheek Terrible Mary
($95) which offers a tasty, smoky, and spicy remedy to your party season hangover, and the signature This Guy
($85) which evokes nostalgia and childhood memories through a combination of Fruit Loops-infused vodka, banana liquor, and infused cinnamon cocchi Americano bianco. The bar also offers a spiced pumpkin vodka Funky Santa
($85) cocktail to celebrate the festive season, as well as a cheeky Boozy Rudolph
($95) cognac-based creation which is sure to warm your cockles and bring a rosy glow to your cheeks.
The real star of the show, however, is the sprawling 57-seater outdoor terrace which looks out onto the expansive street corner below. The earthy wooden decking, cosy cushioned seating, and numerous potted plants create the perfect laid-back vibe in which to kick back to live music performances and sip on killer cocktails with friends. While you're there, be sure to take a peek inside the nearby Music Room, an impressive experimental audio-visual space
which invites local bands to perform.
