Whether an international tournament is going on or not, sports fans around the world love a good bar to hang out in and catch a game of football, a Formula 1 race, an ongoing rugby tournament, or a boxing match, among others. Luckily for viewers in Hong Kong, we have dozens of bars that cater to fans, no matter the sport you follow. From mellow pubs with relaxing vibes to visually stimulating modern bars with massive televisions, here are some of the best bars and venues to watch sports in Hong Kong.
With locations in Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui, Zerve is a popular name on the streets. Apart from multiple HD screens spread around its venue, Zerve also has pool tables, dart machines, and all the beer pong tables you need. So if you’re waiting for your match to start, or just need something to keep you occupied during half-time, this is the perfect place to be. If you’re planning to go along with a group of friends, be sure to call ahead and book yourself a table first, as this popular joint is always packed.
Tucked away on the upper floors of The Broadway in Wan Chai, Trafalgar is just like your local pub, with the added bonus of a terrace. Now, while we’re not promising a quiet evening, at least you are slightly removed from the Wan Chai street-level madness. This traditional British pub will be juggling a mixture of live and replayed World Cup action, while pouring drinks and serving up hearty pub grub.

Dare we say it—Joe’s Billiards is certainly one of the local OGs when it comes to sports bars in Hong Kong. Not only does this classically stylish billiard bar have plenty of TVs screening sports games all day, every day, but you will also find pool tables, dart machines, and beer pong tables too. And we must give Joe’s food menu a shout-out, as it has everything from your healthy green salads to giant snail sausage (our favourites are the Monster Wings!) which are sure to satisfy your mid-game hunger pangs.

Grab a pint, tuck into a pie, and watch the action as it unfolds on the pitch at The Globe. Open daily from 10 am till late, this Central hangout screens major matches and tournaments, with an extensive happy hour running throughout the day until 8 pm. The Globe also has many beers for you to choose from (and we mean a lot), as well as all the pies you can scoff, keeping you fed and watered throughout the matches.

Along the streets of Wan Chai lies Bar 109, a social pub that attracts all kinds of visitors. With a groovy DJ that plays relaxing Motown and blues music, top-tier customer service with friendly staff, and a large selection of areas for group activities, it seems that Bar 109 really does have it all. Bar 109 is only a few short steps away from Wan Chai MTR’s Exit C, so if you are looking for a spot to grab a drink, Bar 109 might be the place for you.

Wan Chai Stadium’s dozens of massive screens across the walls make it impossible to miss a second of your sports game. The red sofas and brick décor imitate a cosy American sports diner, so you’ll feel right at home during your visits. Wanchai Stadium opens its doors at 11 am up until 3 am, so you can watch matches till late.

If chowing down on tasty meals during a match suits you more, The Blind Pig in Sai Wan Ho has a myriad of delectable dishes to choose from while you watch your favourite team—hopefully—dominate on the pitch. Its quiet location fits any fan who prefers to enjoy their matches without the usual dose of rowdiness.

Looking for some all-around boozy entertainment to go with the footie match? Belly and the Beer’s back room has darts and a massive projector screen that is brought out on big game days, so you can keep yourself entertained during breaks. With a quieter room equipped with TVs by the main bar, and an outdoor space by the entrance, the venue is spacious enough for fans to cheer on their favourite teams, while still providing plenty of fun for everyone.
Belly and the Beer, G/F, 21 Elgin Street, Central
Just a few minutes from Central, De België is one of the lesser-known sports bars in the area. Armed with a large projector screen on the ground floor, darts, and a karaoke machine on the secluded first floor, De België is every bit as good as the more popular sports bars in the city. What’s more, the beer selection is robust, and it is one of the only restaurants in the Sheung Wan neighbourhood where you can order food well into the night.
