Finally - Beer Yoga is Coming to Hong Kong!

By Sophie Pettit 28 July 2017

Calling all beer monsters - this is NOT a drill! You will now be able to master the Warrior II while holding a cold bottle of the good stuff at Hong Kong's first outdoor Beer and Fitness Party which hits Stanley Plaza this August 26 and 27.

Aside from a variety of games such as giant beer pong (pictured below), live rock music, and special food and drink deals, the highlight of the weekend will undoubtedly be the city’s first Beer Yoga sessions led by professional yoga instructors and famous yoga expert Elva Ni, who will demonstrate some boozy moves in the Amphitheatre.

Founded by professional German yoga instructor Jhula, Beer Yoga invites participants to hold a bottle of beer while practicing specially designed yoga balancing positions, transforming the traditional practice into a whole new bubbly experience. Unsurprisingly, it's gained huge popularity in Australia, Thailand, and the US - and we think it's going to be a hit in Hong Kong too! There is one catch though, the bottles won't actually contain beer, they'll just be filled with water - so you could say this is more of an "inspired by" beer yoga concept.

It's not just the 'over 18s' who will get to have all the fun during the weekend either, as there will be a family-friendly alternative Juice Yoga on offer too (hmmm ... maybe one for the detoxers). There will also be Zumba dance classes and afternoon rock n roll sessions as local bands Red House, Zooooom, and Cassette and Blaster take to the stage on the Stanley seafront.

So get your diaries out now people because we're in for one boozy weekend of fun!

Cheers ... or is it Namaste!
