School is (almost) out for the summer, which means that your youngsters have oodles of time to make new friends, discover new skills, and explore the world around them. What better way to spend the summer break than to sign up for one of the fun camps on offer around Hong Kong? Whether your child is a creative soul, a good sport, or a bright spark, there’s plenty to keep them busy and happy. Your only problem might be persuading them to come home at the end of the day! Here are Hong Kong’s best summer camps for kids.

The Spanish Academy

Providing your little ones with a wonderful stepping stone to learning a new language while building their communication skills, The Spanish Academy offers a range of exciting Spanish summer courses that are taught by teachers who are not only native speakers, but are also highly qualified and experienced in tutoring kids and teens in Hong Kong. With classes for playgroup level, toddlers, kids, and teens all the way up to high school, children of all ages have the opportunity to learn or brush up on their language skills.

Summer classes are already in session and courses start on the first of each month. Fees start from $275 per hour, depending on age. Intensive courses are also offered at a discount.

The famed Hong Kong Institute of Languages (HKIL) offers language and activity summer camps for children aged four to 12. With huge flexibility in their camp schedule, your little ones will get to explore and experience culturally-themed, fun and educational language activities .

The school offers French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin workshops which are perfect opportunities for children to ease into a new language without feeling the pressure of a regular schoolroom environment. Summer classes start on 5 July until 27 August, with full days and half-days available.

ActiveKids

Want to ensure your kids learn new skills during the summer while also having fun? Check out the wide variety of programmes available at ActiveKids, suitable for children between the ages of three and 17.

Courses taught by expert teachers include their renowned Chess Academy, Science Adventures, RoboCode, Stormy Chefs, ArtCrafters, and Mission Runway. Arch Education is offering a truly special experiential summer programme this year, where students of all ages get to learn from industry experts and professionals! Summer is all about spending time outdoors, and what better way to do that than by playing, exploring, and learning at Ark Eden’s eco-education camps? Let your little ones ride out the waves at the Treasure Island summer surf & adventure camps, and truly take advantage of the hot summer months on beautiful Pui O Beach. With two different camps available for children between the ages of five to 16, young adventurers will get to experience a range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, gorging, kayaking, and beach cleaning. Kids can also choose to focus all of their time on developing the skill of surfing. Either way, it is sure to be a week full of sun, sand and fun!

ESF Sports Camp

Schools are out, but ESF continues to provide excellent education and fun for your students all through the summer! ESF schools across Hong Kong are offering a variety of sports camps, which include swimming, gymnastics, tennis, football, and kung fu, ensuring that there’s a camp for everyone.

There is also have a multi-sports camp so that your child can experience a range of sports and activities. Held at the ESF schools with exceptional facilities, these summer camps are a no-brainer for those looking for something to keep their kids busy. Available from 5 July to 13 August. On The Rise Tennis

Designed for teens between the ages of 15 and 18, this four-day culinary crash course offers budding chefs the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a working kitchen. From becoming an expert at essential cooking techniques to learning how to source ingredients, this summer boot camp culminates in the ultimate test: preparing a full meal for the parents! Choose to do your summer camp at popular restaurants like Fukuro, Buenos Aires Polo Club, Osteria Marza, and more.

Alternatively, if you are looking for some short and sweet fun, join head pastry chef Karys Logue at Butter to create your very own sugary confection! From baking to decorating, the two-and-a-half-hour workshop will take you through each step of how to create one of Butter’s signature cake recipes, which you can bring home to share.
