Spring and summer are usually the most popular seasons for getting hitched, and one of the biggest decisions in wedding planning is choosing the right venue for your special day. Luckily, Hong Kong is an amazingly beautiful city, full of aesthetically pleasing event spaces. If you’ve always dreamed of having a storybook wedding in an enchanted garden, then look to Wooden Fairies in Sai Kung. This ethereal outdoor wedding venue is framed by picturesque trees and brims with beautiful blooms and fairy lights to add to the romance of your special day. Tai O Heritage Hotel

Tai O may be a humble fishing village, but it’s also (surprisingly) home to a gorgeous colonial-style boutique hotel. The building used to be the old Tai O Marine Police Station, but has since been restored and is now a charming nine-room hotel. Nestled on the tip of Lantau Island, the hotel is surrounded by forests and faces a breathtaking sea view. It even has an option for a special wedding sampan ride! Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong

If you want the romance of a seaside wedding without the hassle of sand getting into places it has no business being in, your best bet is the White Chapel at the Auberge Discovery Bay. This triangular affair is Hong Kong’s only seaside chapel. If you prefer your wedding to be an intimate affair with only your favourite people on the guest list, then Pomegranate Kitchen should be the space of choice. Simple and elegant, but just blank enough that you can customise the event the way you want, there are two spaces available: a long dining room with an open kitchen and bar running along one wall, and a spacious adjoining terrace that can be booked together or separately. The Mediterranean-inspired food can also be served family-style or as hors d’oeuvres to be passed around.

AMMO

AMMO—an acronym for “Asia, Modern, Museum, and Original”—is an award-winning Italian-Japanese fusion restaurant hidden in Admiralty. The building that houses it used to be the site of a nineteenth-century explosive compound and is now the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre. Tucked away in the hills behind Pacific Place, most people barely know the building is there, let alone that there’s an acclaimed restaurant, but the relaxing setting is surrounded by botanicals and makes for a chill wedding venue that is out of the ordinary.

The Upper House

This ever-stylish hotel is a great venue for couples who don’t want to leave the bustling centre of the city. The Upper House boasts an outdoor events space called The Lawn, a strip of green within the surrounding concrete jungle. Crown Wine Cellars is mostly known only to Hong Kong’s wine-loving circles, but this boozy basement is topped with a colonial-style conservatory that boasts a handmade mosaic feature wall and is semi-hidden by the surrounding flora, making for a gorgeous wedding venue with a fantastic wine list. Another wow factor: The site used to be old Second World War bunkers and was named a UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Site in 2007.

One-ThirtyOne is a Mediterranean-style house on the outskirts of Sai Kung. Available to rent for events, there is also a spacious yard overlooking the ocean, making for the perfect place to celebrate. The organisers also like to keep the business eco-friendly and sustainable, so the menu changes regularly according to available seasonal produce. When possible, organic produce grown right in the neighbouring farmlands will be used instead. There is even a private dock for mooring a yacht if you plan to sail off into the sunset!
