D·Park presents: Takayama Old Street Food Festival & Miyagawa Morning Market

By Localiiz 18 March 2021

Event Information

START DATE 27 Mar 2021
END DATE 27 Jun 2021
D·Park, 398 Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan

As the sakura starts to bloom and Japan’s hanami (花見; spring flower-viewing) season gets into full swing, we’re missing the Land of the Rising Sun a little more than usual. Thankfully, it seems like the mall gods have been listening to us, because we’re about to get a new way to experience Japan in Hong Kong (for three months, anyway).

From 27 March to 27 June, D·Park in Tsuen Wan will be bringing a little slice of Japan to Hongkongers by transforming part of the mall into a miniature version of Sanmachi Suji, a trio of historical streets in Hida-Takayama that evoke the Edo period.

Enter through the imposing gate to discover the “Takayama Old Street Food Festival” that lies within, comprising 14 Japanese food stalls plying savoury and sweet snacks like charcoal-grilled skewers, okonomiyaki (お好み焼き; savoury pancake), and taiyaki (鯛焼き; crispy fish-shaped pancakes) behind quaint antique-style façades. Feeling thirsty? There’s also going to be a number of beverage stalls selling a wide range of sake, shochu, and tea.

On weekends and public holidays, the mall will also host the “Miyagawa Morning Market” in its atrium, where you can weave around more 40 stalls perusing various handmade homewares and accessories and pick up Japanese groceries, stationery, and more!
