For the second year running, BaseHall, the multi-concept food hall in Jardine House is bringing the ultimate Oktoberfest experience to Hong Kong. Held on 9 October, the day-long event will be divided into two sessions, beginning with family-friendly activities from 11 am to 4 pm, followed by an Oktoberfest party organised in partnership with home-grown microbrewery Young Master Ales, and Bavarian festivities from 5 pm until late.
To kick-start the day, a morning of fun family-focused activities has been planned, including cookie decorating, ring toss, and face painting. Starting from 5 pm, BaseHall will transform into a traditional Bavarian beer tent, the ultimate Oktoberfest resplendent with beer, German-inspired snacks, and traditional games.
Young Master Ales will be brewing their exclusive “Young Master Festbier” for the night, in addition to the Oktoberfest requisites of schnapps, Bavarian weisswurst and obatzda with pretzel. Each of BaseHall’s eight vendors has created an Oktoberfest inspired dish to celebrate, such as a chicken schnitzel with zaatar and sauerkraut from Francis, a roasted ham hock Schweinhaxe burger from Honbo, königsberger klopse (meatballs) with gochujang béchamel from Korean eatery Moyo Sik, and a traditional German Spaetzle with Chicken and Mushroom Sauce from new BaseHall vendor, Mamma’s. These specials will be available all day at BaseHall.
True to the raucous nature that comes along with Oktoberfest, a live DJ and Oompah band will be entertaining throughout the night and a traditional cask tapping ceremony will take place at 7 pm. Other games and entertainment include a Stein-holding competition and ring toss, with fantastic prizes to boot. Limited beer casks are also available for purchase to help revellers get into the Oktoberfest mood and share between friends!
Tickets for the event are priced at $50 (daytime admission) and $150 (evening admission), and are now available via Eventbrite.
