Check out Humans of Hong Kong, our newest video series focused on telling Hong Kong stories!
"I always look forward to visiting Hong Kong, having fallen in love with the city during my first visit with my wife who is from here", the modest movie maker tells Localiiz. "But it wasn't until recently that I decided to document the vibrancy of the city through the lens of my camera. I wanted to show the contrast of the skyscrapers with the natural, rolling green hills, the busyness of the harbor, the bustling street markets, and beyond."Setting his camera to take one photograph every five seconds, in a variety of locations, Dave was able to gather a sequence of images which he later spliced together to create the illusion of movement and time passing rapidly. The result, as we're sure you will agree, is rather spectacular. Even more impressive perhaps, is the fact that he is totally new to this style of film making. "I've been a video professional for 10 years, working in various roles in Ireland where I live, but this is the first time that I have attempted to create a time-lapse. I had little to no experience with the craft, but I learned as I went along." So what does he love most about Hong Kong? "The city has so much culture, history, and liveliness, and I wanted to show that is has something for everybody, whether you're looking for a shopping break or a quiet day at the beach. Being married to a Hong Kong girl, I feel lucky that I have been able to experience the real everyday life of Hongkongers, alongside her." Aaaw.
