Many Hong Kongers have a love/hate relationship with the Kowloon Walled City, but there's no denying its huge role in our city's history. Many people feel a strong sense of nostalgia for the winding alleys that so many called home. Even those unfamiliar with it first hand are intrigued by the story of the lawless labyrinth
, which will remain a major oddity in the world of architecture and city planning.
The site of the once standing city is now commemorated by the Kowloon Walled City Park
, but many Hong Kongers have complained that it does little to reflect the true nature of what it once was.
Thankfully, previous residents of the Kowloon Walled City can experience a huge wave of deja vu if they can make it to a game warehouse in Kawasaki, Japan. Tokyo-based photographer Lee Chapman
paid a visit, and snapped these wonderful photographs at the Kawasaki Warehouse. Click through to see them all!
