New Exhibition: Take a Peek inside Audrey Hepburn's Wardrobe

By Sophie Pettit 30 August 2017

"How do I look?"

If you're as mad about Audrey Hepburn as we are (who could resist those big doe eyes) then you'll be thrilled to hear that a brand new exhibition dedicated to the late actress, fashion icon, and humanitarian is coming to the Landmark Atrium next month.

From September 1 to 8, Audrey fans will get the chance to glimpse inside the wardrobe of the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s star and see a rare collection of her items before they go under the hammer at Christie's auction in London on September 23. The Audrey Hepburn: The Personal Collection Exhibition will feature personal items that she collected, used, and loved throughout her extraordinary life, as well as film memorabilia which have remained in the ownership of her family over the years. Key pieces that exemplify her classic signature look include a Burberry trench coat (estimated at £6,000 to 8,000) and a blue satin Givenchy cocktail dress worn by the star in a photo shoot to promote Two for the Road in 1966, which is estimated at £10,000 to £15,000. [caption id="attachment_99757" align="aligncenter" width="660"] Burberry trench coat and blue satin Givenchy cocktail dress[/caption] But if you are hoping to see the legendary Givenchy black satin evening gown worn by Hepburn in her role as Holly Golightly, we're sorry to tell you that it already sold at Christie’s auction back in 2006 for a whopping £456,200 (yep, you read that right). There is, however, an adorable selection of her ballet pumps on display in a rainbow of colours with estimates from £1,500. [caption id="attachment_99758" align="aligncenter" width="660"] Gold cigarette lighter and powder compact[/caption] The exhibition will also feature Hepburn’s personal archive of photographs, the majority of which date from between 1953 and 1968 when she was at the height of her screen career. These include stills from the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, as well as wardrobe photographs for My Fair Lady (1964) and Vanity Fair prints. Fans will also be able to see copies of her own annotated film scripts from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Charade (1963) – note how she used turquoise ink (inspired by Tiffany's maybe?) to make notes in the margins and on the left hand page. So if you find yourself having one of those days when you get the "mean reds", you known where to go to cheer yourself up – oh, and did we mention there's a Tiffany's in the Landmark too? The Audrey Hepburn: The Personal Collection Exhibition takes place from September 1 to 8 (10am to 8pm) at Landmark Atrium, 5 Queen’s Road Central, Central.
