From the new menu, diners can look forward to vegetarian items such as the OmniPork Luncheon & scrambled egg burger, the OmniPork Luncheon & egg twisty pasta, the OmniPork Luncheon breakfast platter, the OmniPork Luncheon & egg cheesy toastie, the Omnipork Luncheon & egg mayo ciabatta, and more.
Presenting greener options for diners who follow a vegetarian diet, McDonald’s Hong Kong partnered with Green Common and OmniFoods to launch this fresh initiative, turning to the newly-released OmniPork Luncheon as an easily adaptable ingredient that Hongkongers are well familiar with. During the production process, the dishes use plant-based ingredients, as well as water, seasoning, and ingredients that do not contain meat. OmniPork Luncheon itself, a vegan product made primarily from a blend of soy, shiitake mushrooms, peas, and rice, is rich in protein and provides dietary fibre, potassium, and calcium, and is much lower in total fat content and sodium content compared to traditional canned pork luncheon meat.
