Beautiful Video Gives Us a Sneak Peek into Life in Mui Wo

By Sophie Pettit 19 February 2019

The quaint town of Mui Wo on the eastern coast of Lantau Island offers plenty of beaches, hikes, cycling trails and restaurants to explore for those wanting to escape the bustling city. But for the town's locals, life is just as exciting, as 21-year-old university student, Kristian Dodds, shows us in his charming new video Mui Wo Life.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Kristian has lived in Mui Wo for the majority of his life, often hopping back and fourth between Hong Kong and the UK to spend time with his friends and family in the town he calls home. And it certainly seems that absence has made his heart grow fonder, judging by his video which shows off everything he loves about his home town.Compiling footage Kristian captured over the last two years on his DJI Mavic Pro Drone and Canon G7X Mark I, the clip pays tribute to the various landscapes of Mui Wo, featuring some of his favourite spots including the Mui Wo Wet Market where he gets his cha siu in the mornings, the Cooked Food Market where he eats local Chinese food, and Dead Mans Hill where he likes to watch the sunset with his friends on the rocks."I love my home town and I love to film, so I decided to make a video to celebrate all the brilliant things Mui Wo has to offer", Kristian tells Localiiz. "The town has got some incredible locations for any videographer, and making this video got me out the house and going on some crazy adventures with my friends."Hong Kong is constantly changing and I know Mui Wo will not always be the same, so this video is a great way for me to preserve the memories I have as a child growing up there before it all changes."Aww, there's no place like home, ay?Follow Kristian's adventures on Instagram.
