Lights Up presents: “Weaving Tales” light show at The Mills

By Localiiz 6 November 2020

Event Information

START DATE 07 Nov 2020
The Mills, 45 Pak Tin Par Street, Tsuen Wan
(+852) 3979 2300

An architectural projection mapping project organized by a group of local artists and hosted by the Daaimung Lab, Lights Up is set to make its first stop at Tsuen Wan's cultural landmark The Mills. The textile factory-turned-creative hub offers an exceptional backdrop with its revitalized architecture contrasting new materials with the key elements of the building’s original design. Created around the theme of “Weaving Tales,” Lights Up will illustrate the story of weavers, the history of the textile industry, and an outlook for the future.

The Lights Up team spent almost three years developing the Weaving Tales story, interviewing former textile workers in order to create a visually appealing light show that also successfully conveys the collective memories and emotions of the workers. The show will display the colourful history of Hong Kong's textile industry, from everyday scenes to architectural and business transformations to developmental prospects, leaving behind a beautifully positive view of the future and heartwarming inspiration for the next generation.
