Concluding Hong Kong Ballet’s memorable 2023/2024 season—with crowds still raving about The Great Gatsby and The Nutcracker—is the world premiere of Swan Lake by San Francisco Ballet resident choreographer Yuri Possokhov. It will run from 31 May till 9 June with afternoon and evening performances.

Swan Lake is a poignant love story between Prince Siegfried, Princess Odette (the white swan who must be freed by true love), and Odile (the black swan sent by a powerful sorcerer). Having opened in 1877 in Russia, the San Francisco Ballet performed Swan Lake’s American debut in 1940. As Tchaikovsky’s first ballet score, Swan Lake is up there with the most famous and classic ballets of all time. Its orchestral theme is pretty universal, whether you are familiar with the production or not. For this brand-new staging of the fairytale, the Hong Kong Ballet will be joined by special guest dancers from The Royal Ballet and the Dutch National Ballet.

You don’t need to be a ballet expert to enjoy a Hong Kong Ballet production, as the sets, the costumes, and the overall dazzling performance are reason enough. The show is accompanied live by the Hong Kong Philharmonic. We can guarantee you’ll leave the theatre longing for the next ballet performance. Get your tickets here.
