In part two of the exhibition, renowned fine-art photographer Gretchen So is showcasing her images at HKI Gallery. Titled “Evolving Territories: Hong Kong in Transition 1994–2000,” the exhibition features two dozen photographs shot on a medium-format camera taken over the course of six years. The images serve as a visual record of Hong Kong’s evolution during a critical historical time, as well as a critique of the city's pre-Millenium urbanisation and modernisation.
By capturing the unique topography of Hong Kong to contemplate the relationship between the lives of its inhabitants and rapidly changing developments, So invites us to contemplate the following questions: “Can we just reminisce the past? Or can we look forward to the future? Do we gain more than what we lost in the process?”
Covering the hottest new eats, the best places to play, offbeat takes on local culture, and so much more, Localiiz is every Hongkonger’s destination for how to live a well-rounded life in our vibrant city. Why the strange spelling? Well, Localiiz is designed to be your “local eyes”—and for that, you need two i’s.
