Funk Ska Nation 2020

By Localiiz 14 January 2020

Event Information

START DATE 18 Jan 2020
END DATE 18 Jan 2020
The Hub, 1/F, Fortune Bldg, 150-158 Lockhart Rd, Wan Chai, Hong Kong

Kicking off its 16th year of hosting live music events in Hong Kong, The Underground returns in 2020 with Funk Ska Nation, featuring some of the most exciting local funk and ska bands around.
While opening act Sunrise may still be in their teens, the duo will astonish with their polished and mature musical talent and stage presence. Next up is legendary The Red Stripes, Hong Kong’s premier ska/mod band who have played festivals and shows all over Asia. Find out what skanking really means with this awesome 11-piece original band featuring sing-along choruses with hard-hitting riffs and a bombastic horn section.

Then it’s time for new boys on the block The Funkaphones, who promise us a set of part funk, part pop, and part plain fun, making you feel like you’ve been warped to the 70s with the same outfit you wore to the show. Think Hall and Oates meets Maroon 5.

Finally, the sequin-clad madcap maestro JUNK! will close the show as only he can. The maverick genius brings audiences to hysterical laughter, total shock and everything between with his unfiltered, profane takes on life’s ups and downs. Prepare yourself for a hilarious, one-man audio-visual extravaganza!

Get on down to The Hub on January 18 for a boot-stomping evening with two great genres to keep you dancing all night to the skankiest beats around! Get your tickets now; early bird ends January 2nd, 2020.
