By Localiiz 4 November 2020

Event Information

Riding on the success of their inspire* Design Thinking series in the previous two years and aligning the institute’s latest academic focus on design for wellbeing, leading design education provider Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) is launching an exciting new series of virtual lectures and workshops entitled “HKDI inspire* Design for Well-being” from 3 to 6 November, diving deep into the role and value of design for enhancing human well-being. A line-up of renowned local and overseas experts will take the virtual stage, sharing their expertise and experience across disciplines related to well-being, such as ageing and dementia, industrial and interior design for those with special needs, social and systems design, and more.

The keynote sessions and panel discussions on will explore the significance of people-centric design thinking as the key to unlock future horizons and ways to break the boundaries among products, services, systems and processes, and merge them into integrated solutions. The programme aims to spotlight the critical role of design thinking in addressing and maintaining well-being for all ages, in terms of physical, mental, social and ecological health. Topics include challenges and opportunities in accelerating wellbeing transformations that are fuelled by cross-disciplinary interactions with design, technology, and behavioural study.

Furthermore, the featured “Design Does*-For Better and For Worse” interactive exhibition will showcase a series of projects by international designers that seek to address topical issues and future challenges such as sustainability, ethics, connectivity, marginalisation, consumerism and innovation. To kick off the opening of the exhibition, there will also be master lecture and online panel discussion held on 5 November. Check out their event page for the full programme details.
