Event Information

START DATE 02 Apr 2021
END DATE 03 Apr 2021
Eaton HK, 380 Nathan Road, Jordan

Eaton HK is proud to announce a new innovative performance held over two days on April 2 and 3, 2021, which promises to offer an enriching cultural experience for viewers, whilst maintaining social distancing protocols. The two-day cultural showcase “Through The Looking Glass” is a three-part performance comprising movement and music and includes world-class performers from Hong Kong Ballet, as well as eccentric local talent.

A ground-breaking performing arts experience puts a clever twist on social distancing restrictions by creating a programme designed to be experienced from the comfort of your own hotel room looking over the 4/F Terrible Baby terrace where the performance is taking place, as though seated in a “loge” at the theatre with the terrace as a stage. Enjoy the show in comfort with a bottle of fine wine paired with pastry amenities in your own “private theatre box”.

The performance’s title pays homage to Lewis Carroll’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” the sequel to his famous “Alice in Wonderland” and explores a world in which logic is reversed. The three-part matinee performances kick off with a piece by renowned choreographer Sudhee Liao and dramaturg Constantin Leu, who has conceptualised a theme focused on reflection and reversal.

Next in the line-up is a musical performance by HK New Music Ensemble. The inventive group will play a curated selection based on the whimsical themes explored in Carroll’s ground-breaking novel, before clearing the stage for Hong Kong Ballet who will perform a dynamic work entitled “The Orpheus Cabaret.” This will be the first time “The Orpheus Cabaret” will be performed before a live audience.

With only limited rooms available each night, Through the Looking Glass will be one of the most sought-after cultural experiences yet this year. Act fast and book your tickets now!
