Weekly Pupdates: Animals in Need of a Fur-ever Home

If you are thinking about getting a furry companion of your own, you may want to consider adopting from one of these rescue shelters before hitting the pet shop. Not only are you helping to sustain these charities by adopting from their shelters, but since they are run by animal welfare advocates, you can also be sure that they will be able to match the right rescue animal to cater to your lifestyle, ensuring a long-lasting and harmonious relationship. To help make things easier for you, we’ve put together a weekly roundup of the most adorable companion animals available for adoption across Hong Kong.

Before you proceed, have you considered what it takes to adopt a rescue animal? Are you able to afford the cost of taking care of an animal? Is your home safe enough for a dog? Don’t worry, you can find all the answers you need in our guide to everything you need to consider before adopting a dog in Hong Kong.

Best suited for… Ideally, a patient family who has understanding and experience with shy dogs.
Notes: To meet Sin Jai, visit SKSFF at 151 Tai Lam Wu Road, Sai Kung.

HK Paws

Name: Benson (M)
Age: 10 years old
Breed: Mixed
Description: Benson is a sweet and gentle older boy. He was rescued 3 years ago with his girlfriend Betty. Though he was found as a stray, it’s apparent that he has gone through training, so was likely kept as a pet or guard dog before. He and Betty came to HKPaws as they were taken away and almost put down by AFCD. While Betty was adopted in 2017, sadly Benson has only been staying in foster homes ever since. He’s lived with different puppies at the foster, and has played the role of a great big brother. He has a lot of love to give and will do well in a family of his own.
Best suited for… A single person, couple or family with or without other dogs.
Notes: Benson still plays like a puppy.

To adopt Benson, fill out this adoption questionnaire or WhatsApp Kat at (+852) 9485 5188 for more information.

Description: Libby and Linney were rescued from the mountains at the start of the month. They are now both living separately with foster parents, though they still love to get together and play fight! These fluff balls both love to be cuddled and are great with kids and other dogs.
Best suited for… A single person, couple or family with or without other dogs.
Notes: Can be adopted separately.

To adopt Libby and, or, Linney, fill out this adoption questionnaire or WhatsApp Kat at (+852) 9485 5188 for more information

Kirsten’s Zoo

Name: Kenneth (M)
Age: 3 years old
Breed: Lionhead Rabbit
Description: Kenneth is a fluffy, friendly, and also a lonely bunny. Being caged is sad enough without being lonely too. He’d love to be in a home and be given time out of his cage and the attention he really needs and enjoys. He uses his toilet and is a clean bunny who loves to be handled and cuddled.
Best suited for… Someone who can give him space and time—not caged 24/7.

To adopt Kenneth, fill out this adoption questionnaire or email kirstszoo@hotmail.com for more information.

Villa Kunterbunt Lantau

Name: Meghan (F)
Age: 6 years old
Breed: Corgi
Description: Meghan was abandoned by the breeder. Having had her bladder stone removed, she needs a special diet that won’t cost you a lot more than normal dog food. Shy and a bit reserved, it will take some time for her to open up herself to strangers, but once you have gained her trust, she will show you how affectionate and playful she actually is. Unlike younger dogs who have endless energy, Meghan is calm and laid-back. On a summer’s day, she prefers chilling to getting sweaty. She has a good temperament and is easy to handle even for first-time dog owners.
Best suited for… A family that can give Meghan the love and attention she deserves as a retired breeder dog.
Notes: Meet Meghan at Adoption Day at Discovery Bay Plaza (Discovery Bay) on Saturday (3pm–6pm).

If you’re interested in Meghan or have any questions, please contact Villa Kunterbunt Lantau on Facebook!

Name: Ollie (M)
Age: 5 months old
Breed: Mixed
Description: Ollie was rescued in a village along with his mom and eight siblings. He is currently in a foster family, learning how to be a good boy. According to his foster, he is an energetic boy who loves to run in the sun. Friendly and playful, he has made some really good friends (two-legged and four-legged ones). If you are an active person and like a dog that will get sweaty with you hiking and swimming, Ollie is the one!
Best suited for… An active couple or family with children.
Notes: Meet Ollie at Adoption Day at Discovery Bay Plaza (Discovery Bay) on Saturday (3–6pm).

If you’re interested in Ollie or have any questions, please contact Villa Kunterbunt Lantau on Facebook!
