It’s often said that Hong Kong moves at a pace of its own, and for 22-year-old student Karen Lamb, that pace is drum and bass. Check out her awesome new video of our bustling city in all its hectic glory – it’s sure to get your heart pounding with even more love for the 852.
“I always make travel videos when I visit a new place, so I wasn’t planning on making one for Hong Kong since it was the city I grew up in before moving to Canada as a kid”, Lam tells Localiiz. “But after spending a month here visiting family on a recent trip, I saw a lot of things I didn’t see back when I was a child; things like how busy the city is, how fast the people walked, and the general high speed of everything happening. I swear even the clouds move faster here!”
Rediscovering her love for the city she once called home, Lam set out with her Canon 70D to capture its speed in the best way she knows how – a timelapse. Making our way through swarming crowds and non-stop traffic, the video takes us on a journey to some of Hong Kong’s most iconic hangouts – we even get to ride the tram. But if anything, Lam wants us to slow down to appreciate the spectacular city we live in.
“Everything is super fast paced here. Everyone always seems like they are in a rush to get somewhere, from dusk to dawn. Slow down. Where are you going? Look around you. Stand at the corner of a street or on a bridge for ten minutes and observe the beautiful city that you rush through everyday – there’s no place like it, it’s amazing!”
And relax …
