Couples who run together, stay together — or so they say! Well, now’s your chance to find out as the Lantau Base Camp Valentine’s Day Race returns once again to gets hearts racing this February 10.
Organised by Lantau Base Camp (LBC), the race challenges partners to complete one of two trails in Pui O. The Easy Love trail is a new course which covers 12km of beautiful natural scenery around Chi Ma Wan, and requires 400m of climbing while managing to avoid the ‘big hills’. Meanwhile, Tough Love challenges couples to cover 14km of ground with 700m of elevation gain, tackling hills and stairs while taking in the stunning views from the Chi Ma Wan hill, Lo Yan Shan.
Starting and finishing at Pui O Football Pitch, racers must complete the entire course as marked within a 4 hour time limit. Each team must be made up of two members and both runners must complete the whole trail together – so no arguing lovebirds! Teams that accidentally go off course or don’t follow the markers will also be disqualified — so no cheating either.
Entry to the race costs $450 per team and there are three different categories to choose from (2 male, 2 female, or mixed teams of 2) with prizes for the top team in each category. According to the organisers, the race is suitable for all fitness levels, catering to those who want an easy ride and those who are thirsty for a challenge.
So, are you up for it? Great. Now all you need to do is convince your sweet Valentine to join you and register before January 31.
