We all have nicknames for our favourite hangouts in Hong Kong - dinner in
"Rat Alley" or shopping at "The Lanes" anyone? - but now we get to name some for money.
The Civil Engineering & Development Department is inviting Hong Kongers to participate in a street-naming
competition for the Kai Tak area. For a chance to win cash prizes up to $10,000, you must come up with innovative
Chinese names for the ten pedestrian streets in the Grid Neighbourhood in the Kai Tak Development (KTD).

The suggested names must reflect the unique local identity of the area, be "innovative, original, and unique", and incorporate the public creatives for the KTD project.
Each street is ten metres wide and planted with trees and shrubs to create a quiet and comfortable ambience - that should give you some inspiration.
The deadline for entries is
February 2, so you have a few weeks to get your creative juices flowing and come up with something - or use Google Translate (we tried it, it works!)
