Stop the clocks — we've found the next Stanley Kubrick! That's if obscure imagery, flashing visual effects, and abstract concepts of time are anything to go by.
Hong Kong based photographer Patrick Cheung has blown us away with his stunning new video Time, which offers an abstract take on our city inspired by the spooky Blood Moon in October. Cutting between shots of night and day, and using his incredible skills for timelapse and hyperlapse, he channels Kubrick like no other filmmaker we've seen.
"I came up with the idea for this video last year when I shot the Blood Moon in Hong Kong and decided to create a bigger story around it," Cheung tells Localiiz. "The hard part of this project was shooting the same areas and positions during the day and night, which took a lot of patience and precision, but the end result is well worth it."
We're not the only ones to agree! While he may not be collecting his Oscar just yet, Cheung has certainly made a name for himself in the filmmaking world, making the shortlist at this year's Spanish film festival,
Timelapse Showfest, with his video. So can he thank Kubrick for being his biggest source of inspiration? Apparently not — he much prefers Christopher Nolan!
