Cliff jumping at Sai Wan Rock Pools

By Contributed content 24 August 2016

Most of us like to chill out on the beach or by a pool on a summer weekend in Hong Kong, but not adventure-seeking filmmaker Robin Lee—he prefers to grab a few friends and plummet off an eight-metre cliff! It might sound a bit mental, but take a look at his Sai Wan rock pool adventures and you’re sure to feel the adrenaline pumping.

“I'm not a beach person, so jumping off cliffs and surfing is what keeps me going through the summer,” Lee tells Localiiz. “I have lived in Hong Kong my whole life and the rock pools are one of my favourite places to go in the summer; it’s impossible not to have fun there. My friends and I go there every summer—it’s always such a good place to relax and have fun.”

It’s hard to imagine that just outside of the urban sprawl of Hong Kong, you have access to acres and acres of countryside. While many people—especially those who only view HK from the outside—see it as a concrete jungle, if you look hard enough, you can find magical nature reserves like this. So next time you get bored of the beach, why not head to the rock pools? Just make sure you don’t lose your trunks on the dive down!
