Tim Burton Gets Set to Take Over Hong Kong

By Sophie Pettit 4 October 2016
Ever wondered what it would be like to stumble into the weird and wacky world of Tim Burton? Well ponder no longer, because the visionary film director is taking over the ArtisTree in Taikoo Place with a brand new exhibition from November 5. Fans of the gothic movie-making genius will have the opportunity to explore over 500 of his drawings, photographs, puppets, and moving-image works at the multimedia exhibition, simply named The World of Tim Burton. Curated from the artist’s personal archive, the display will be presented in thematic sections that examine his extensive career, dating back to his earliest childhood doodles - we can't wait to see those! Best known for his dark and quirky style - which you can spot a mile away - Burton has entertained the world with his bizarre characters and twisted worlds in whimsical blockbuster movies such as Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Alice in Wonderland. So it's safe to say we can expect our imaginations to run wild as he unfolds his surreal creations on our doorstep. The wacky fun doesn't stop there either, as our favourite brand of bubbly, Veuve Clicquot, has some wicked tricks up its sleeve to spread the gothic love this October. The champagne house that is known for painting the town yellow will be hosting a series of 'Yelloween' parties at some of the city's hottest night spots to provide revelers with the perfect backdrop to a peculiar evening of champagne sipping. Yelloween party The events will take place on October 28 and 29 at Dragon-I, Tazmania Ballroom, Bungalow, Flint at the JW Marriott, and Tott’s at the Excelsior. Guests are encouraged to dress up and take photos using the hashtags #VeuveClicquot #Yelloween - and of course, we want to see your gothic getups, so don't forget to tag #localiiz. And keep your eyes peeled for Johnny Depp ladies! Enter The World of Tim Burton at Artistree, 1/F Cornwall House, Taikoo Place, 979 King's Road, Quarry Bay, from November 5 to January 23, 2017. Tickets cost $144 for students on weekdays, $180 for standard tickets on weekdays, and $220 for standard tickets on weekends.
