The Weekend Ahead: January 16 - 17

Whether you're gearing up for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon or watching jaw-dropping circus performers at Udderbelly, this weekend promises to be one action-packed ride!

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon

21 Get your running shoes at the ready! Hong Kong's biggest sporting event is back and ready to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a record breaking 73,000 runners expected to take part. The Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10km routes will snake through the streets of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, so keep your eyes peeled and show your support! Registration for the marathon has now closed, but we wish all participants the best of luck and can't wait to cheer them across the finish line in Victoria Park. UCI Track Cycling World Cup

cycle Hong Kong plays host to the final of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup for the first time this weekend. Watch over 250 riders from 30 countries battle it out in the Hong Kong Velodrome, in pursuit of international titles and prestigious places at this year's Olympic Games in Rio. World-class athletes, including Hong Kong's London Olympic medalist Sarah Lee Wai Sze, and triple Olympic gold medalist Jason Kenny, promise a nail-biting final at record breaking speeds! Shelter Skelter Arts & Music Festival

shelter skelter Enjoy a live music extravaganza as Shelter Skelter brings eleven bands to the AIA Great European Carnival this weekend. Catch some of Hong Kong's home grown talent, such as Banda Orbita, Teenage Riot, and League of Gentlemen, and bop away to jazz, rock 'n' roll, and funk at the Main Stage. All proceeds go to humanitarian charity ShelterBox. Don't miss your chance to jump on the heart-pounding rides, and test your skills in the carnival games. Yoga Saturdays with Adam Weirick

yoga-2 Keep the January blues at bay with a vibrant, fun, and energising free session of yoga with Adam Weirick. The two-hour practice includes both Vinyasa and Yin yoga, and Adam will introduce you to the four basic elements of Alignment-Based Vinyasa that will guide you to find awareness through movement and balance, strength in flexibility, and bring union between the body and mind. The session is completely free and suitable for all levels (complete beginners are welcome). Remember to bring your own mat/towel and water! Udderbelly Festival The Elephant In The Room and A Simple Space

simple-space Feats of physical strength and circus performances are taking over the Udderbelly theatre this weekend. Cirque Le Roux present The Elephant In The Room, transporting us back to 1938 to join Miss Betty for an evening of mystery, slapstick, and jaw-dropping acrobatics. A Simple Space sees 7 acrobats push their physical limits in a uniquely raw and honest collection of circus performances.
