The Weekend Ahead: December 12 - 13

From Christmas themed pub crawls to bowling with Santa, and public tug-of-wars to bacon-fuelled rugby scrums, this weekend is jam-packed with action! Enjoy.

 Hullett House's Christmas Market

Celebrate the winter season’s cheer at Kowloon’s merriest marketplace. This year, Hullett House is partnering with official charity beneficiary, HandsOn Hong Kong and all donated toys received at the event will be given to children in need. The open-air market offers festive gourmet delights, unique hand-crafted gifts, fashion apparel, and stocking fillers. Santa Claus will be reading stories to his elves, while carol singers and other live performers entertain the crowd. A daily 'Best Dressed Elf' contest will be held during the event weekend with a special surprise for the winning elf! SantaCon Hong Kong

SantaCon There's nothing quite like donning your Santa hat and joining hundreds of Hong Kongers on an epic pub crawl to get you in the festive spirit. More than one thousand people are marked as 'going' to this year's event on Facebook, so be prepared for an ocean of red and white  and a lot of clanking glasses. Ho Ho Ho! The 12 Pubs of Christmas

hatsWhere else could you wander through the streets dressed as a Christmas tree? Dress up as your favourite Christmas character or item and join your fellow Hong Kongers on a journey through the 12 Pubs of Christmas for a great cause. The event is free but donations will be collected on the day for local charity Room to Read. Pub goers will be given a wristband which gives them access to some fantastic deals in bars such as Beer Bay, Stormies, Rula Bula, Solas, Typhoon, and Joe Bananas. The pièce de résistance is taking over the Star Ferry for a rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas! Discovery Bay Christmas Market

With 171 of Hong Kong's finest indie-craft talents, you are sure to find something special for everyone on your Christmas list at this festive market. You will find everything from fine jewellery, cool ceramics, eco-friendly stationery, posters and prints, gorgeous baby accessories, decorations, pet treats, bags, quirky vintage clothing, one-of-a-kind housewares, and organic goods. Tikitiki’s Santa Claus Funky Bowling

Before he rounds up his reindeer and hops on his sleigh, the big guy will be paying a visit to Tikitiki Bowling Bar to play some funky bowling and strike a turkey (three strikes in a row!) Each of the ten bowling lanes will have a "funky" yet entertaining style of bowling, such as bowling backwards, through the legs, and left handed bowling, that kids can enjoy taking part in. There will also be a chance to sing some Christmas carols as Tiktiki’s lively house band, Frankie Hollywood and the Tiki Birds, will be performing favourite holiday classics. Freespace Happening

070617-yilin-d12-jz049 Head to West Kowloon Cultural District this Sunday and enjoy an afternoon of live music, interactive art, hands-on workshops, and a handicraft market. Presented as part of the Mobile M+: Live Art programme, the event features a publically staged, open tug-of-war called Twenty from Chinese performance artist Lin Yilin, which everyone is invited to join. There will also be a Pop Up Press run by Hong Kong Open Printshop, where you can print on your tote bag, and a market full of locally crafted goodies. Hong Kong Corporate Sevens

Head down to So Kon Po Recreation Ground for an action-packed Sunday and enjoy a day of tackles, scrums, and bacon rolls as the Savills Corporate Sevens returns for the third year. Gates open at 9.30am to the sound of pipes and drums, before the first game kicks off and early morning spectators and team members can tuck into freshly cooked bacon rolls. Entry is free and there is a Kids' Zone to keep the little ones entertained.

Dog Adoption Sunday

Join local charity Kirsten’s Zoo for a fun-filled dog adoption day at Rude Bar and Lounge. They have lots of gorgeous dogs and puppies looking for loving new homes and families. Collection boxes will be at the event, but you can also make an online donation to Kirsten's Zoo and help towards the daily care of the animals in their care.
