Spotlight on Spas - Massage Magic at Sparadise

By Localiiz 11 September 2013
For our second Spotlight on Spas feature, the ever-selfless Crystal Wilde donates her body to massage, the perfect tension-busting fix for busy city slickers. Everyone knows that typing at a computer all day doesn’t do wonders for the body’s wellbeing. As a journalist, I’m constantly plagued by stiff shoulders, lower back pain and the posture of someone auditioning for a part in Lord of the Rings. In a bid to straighten myself out and shake off the stress, I headed to new spa on the scene Sparadise. On the recommendation of a friend, I sampled the Aroma Touch massage at the hands of Amar, who has been practicing his well-honed art for more than 20 years, 11 of which were spent at the Mandarin Oriental. The treatment employs the help of no less than eight Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils to rub away your worries and woes. The oils, all of which are extracted directly from plants and flowers, are worked into pressure points along the body’s meridian lines, helping to loosen tight muscles, reduce inflammation, oxygenate the blood and boost the immune system. Almost drooling with pleasure as I drifted away in the warm but airy bamboo-flanked treatment room, I was in absolute heaven under Amar’s expert hands. “This treatment is great for Hong Kongers because the city is very confined and people tend to get ill very easily,” explained Amar. “The oils we use are anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal, which helps boost overall wellbeing, while the massage acts as a quick fix for those suffering aches and pains from working at computers and stressful jobs.” And at Sparadise you can also pamper responsibly, as all products are certified organic and selected from sustainable suppliers in New Zealand, Australia, the US and Hong Kong. On top of this, the founder’s ‘One Product, One Country, One Cause’ scheme sees money from the sale of in-spa photography, slippers and bags go towards charities that empower women, children and refugees, both locally and abroad. Sparadise is located at 21 Mosque Street, Mid Levels. Call 5962 2236 or email via their Localiiz profile page to make an appointment.
