Sing and Swing: Music & Dance Events in Hong Kong this September

By Localiiz 30 August 2013
Treat your senses this September with stimulating dance and singing sessions. Break the humdrum routine that we’re all victims of falling into, shake a leg, hit that high note and put a smile on your face. Indian Dreams (September 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th) Learn how to move with grace and poise as you master the art of Bharatnaytam. Cosmic Dance’s new ‘Introduction to Indian Classical Dance’ sessions start on September 2nd and will run every Monday from 8pm to 9pm.
Small Voices (September 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th) Bring out your little star’s inner thespian with Katterwall’s Children’s Music Theatre programme, starting on September 7th. The classes, for children aged 8 to 11, will run every Saturday from 10.30am to 11.45am. The Sheung Wan-based group also offers one-on-one singing lessons in classical, opera, pop and jazz styles for children aged 11 and above.
Easy on the Ears (September 14th) Unwind with a night of blues, jazz and acoustic covers at Fill in the Blank. The Dulcet Tones Collective promises to bring us a memorable evening of easy listening classics on September 14th. Tickets are on sale for HK$150 and doors open at 7pm, so head down for a serene Saturday night.
Hitting the High Notes (September 11th) Soak up some Italian culture by immersing yourself in the ancient art of opera. Throughout the next few months, Peter Gordon will be hosting a series of opera workshops at Dante Alighieri Society, staring with a fun 'Bluffing your way to Opera' introduction on September 11th.
Baby Bollywood Get your tiny dancers bouncing to Bollywood beats at Cosmic Dance’s dedicated children’s classes. The high-energy choreographed sessions will wear out hyper kids and leave them rhythmically and directionally stronger.
Safety in Numbers Singing is a great way to de-stress and relax after an exhausting day, and what better way to do it than with a group of people who will make you sound even better. Try out for Katterwall’s Kassia Choirs for men and women this month and belt your way through four terms covering pop, gospel, jazz, musical and country themes.
  Come Together

Spend every second Sundays shaking a leg this September. Join Cosmic Dance for their free community classes, running from 10am to 11am at their studio in Jordan.
